Death Frederick Tranter The death occurred in St Vincents Hospital, Sydney, on Friday, August 24th, 1962, of Frederick Tranter, late of Moruya, aged 48 years. Fred was a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Tranter, of Rylstone, formerly a well known family in the Gulgong and Birriwa districts. Most of his life was spent in Moruya, where he had acquired extensive dairying property and other interests. He was closely associated with many organisations within the Moruya district, was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Bodalla Estate and the Moruya cheese factory, also a President of the local Vegetable Growers Association. Fred was educated at the Yanco and Hurlstone Agricultural Colleges and Armidale Teachers College, He was engaged as a school teacher for over 20 years and taught at Uralla, Bredbo and Bodalla primary schools and Moruya High School. He retired from the department in 1956, due to ill health. Fred was survived by his wife Nan and son John, brothers Wal (Mudgee), Ken (Strathfield), Doug and Vic (Rylstone) and Eric (Chinchilla, Qld.), also sisters Eileen (Lindfield), Mary (Brisbane) and Gwen (Rylstone). Rylstone-Kandos News Obituary Mrs. Catherine Agnes Tranter The death occurred in the Rylstone District Hospital last week (February 2) of Mrs. Catherine Agnes Tranter, aged 81 years. The late Mrs. Tranter was well known in the town and district. She was the wife of Mr. Walter Tranter, of Rylstone. Mr. and the late Mrs. Tranter were married in Newcastle sixty years ago. They lived for many years in Gulgong, and later moved to Toowoomba, where they live for 22 years. In 1952 they made their home in Rylstone, to be near their family. Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. Tranter’s husband, Walter, and daughters, Eileen (Mrs. L. A. Freidman, Lindfield), Mary (Mrs. L. A. Slaughter, Brisbane), and Gwen (Mrs. G. A. Nicholson, Rylstone), and to the five sons, Wal (Mudgee), Ken (Strathfield), Doug and Vic (Rylstone), Eric (Chinchilla, Queensland). Two sons predeceased their mother. They were Cecil and Fred. Also left to mourn are sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The service at St. James Church of England, Rylstone, and at the Rylstone Cemetery was conducted by Canon Whiting of Bathurst. The funeral arrangements were carried out by N. and W. Brown, Rylstone.
