Note:

Mrs. Mary Spora. The death occurred at Mudgee on the 1st ult., of Mrs. Mary Walsh Spora, at the early age of 32. Born at Templemore, Young, she went to Monivae, Lue, in the Mudgee district, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kearins, when quite young. She received her education at the hands of the Sisters of Mercy, Parramatta. While in Lue, with her parents, she was certainly everything that a Catholic girl ought to be, giving a splendid example of Catholic virtue, and taking an active interest in everything connected with the Church. About two years ago she married Mr. J. T. Spora, of Rylstone, and taking up residence at Mundoran, she endeared herself to everybody by her fine Catholic spirit, her charitable disposition, and her general social qualities. The regret expressed at her death was extraordinarily widespread, friends coming great distances - from Sydney, Young, Burrowa and locally to attend her funeral. Requiem Mass was celebrated for the repose of her soul in St. Mary's Church, by Right Rev. Monsignor E. J. Flanagan, P.P., V.G., Mudgee, on the morning of the 2nd ult. The funeral took place to the Mudgee Cemetery, Monsignor Flanagan, assisted by Rev. Father O'Byrne (Mudgee), and Rev. Father Barrow (Kandos), reciting the last, prayers. She leaves a husband and two infant children to mourn their loss. - R.I.P (Catholic Press, Thursday 29 October 1936, page 29).

Note:

SAD DEATH OF YOUNG MENDOORAN LADY A very sad death took place in a Mudgee private hospital on Tuesday of last week, whereby two little boys, one twelve months and the other eight days were left motherless. We refer to the passing of Mrs. Mary Spora, wife of Mr. Jack Spora, of Black Springs, Mendooran, who fell a victim to that dreaded complaint, pneumonia, following childbirth and this, despite the fact that everything in the way of medical attention and nursing, including the bringing of Dr. Harold Ritchie, a city specialist, to Mudgee, was done. Deceased was 32 years of age, and had been married only about two years. Before her marriage she was a popular young Lue lady, being the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Kearins, of Monivae Station, of that place. Ail indication of the popularity of deceased was given on Wednesday, when the major portion of Lue residents - people amongst whom she had lived, and, therefore were in a position to best judge her - went to Mudgee, a distance of nearly 20 miles, in order to pay their respects to one they had learned to esteem. This was also evidenced by Mendooran friends. Although a terrible loss, one of the greatest blows possible to sustain, it must, in some small way be a comfort to the bereaved husband and the rest of her family to realise that the departed lady was mourned by all who knew her best - the people amongst whom she had lived. Besides the sorrowing husband, two children and parents, deceased is survived by three sisters: the Misses Kitty, Meg and Hannah (all of Monivae) - - and two brothers - Messrs Thomas (Bingham, Lue) and Patrick (Monivae). The remains were taken to St. Mary's R. C. Church, where Rev. Father O'Byrne held a service, after which the funeral took place to Mudgee treneral cemetery, where Monsignor Flanagan, Father 0'Byrne and Father Barrow (Kandos) were in attendance (Gilgandra Weekly and Castlereagh, Thursday 10 September 1936, page 2).

Her passing will be very sincerely regretted, and to the sorrowing husband and family deep sympathy is extended. The funeral will take place to the Catholic portion of the Mudgee Cemetery tomorrow (Tuesday morning (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Monday 29 October 1945, page 2).
