Note | DEATH OF A FINE OLD LADY Mrs Mary Bonner It is with sincere regret we have to chronicle the passing away or yet another of the district's pioneers in the person of Mrs Mary Bonner, who died at her residence, "Garden Vale," Olinda, at 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, aged 84 years, from blood pressure. The deceased was a Mudgee native, but had resided in this district practically all her life, and was one of the finest old ladies that one could wish to come in contact with. Hospitality, kindness and ready sympathy with anyone and everyone were the cardinal points of this grand old lady, and this scribe personally has experienced that "home away from home" atmosphere whilst temporarily a guest of the late Mrs Bonner, daughter Polly and son Jim on several occasions. In addition to the son and daughter mentioned, Messrs Harry and Pat, sons of deceased, are left to mourn their great loss or a devoted mother, whilst four sons predeceased her, including Jack, who died on active service. The funeral took place in the R.C. portion of the Rylstone cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends of the family. We extend our deep sympathy to the family in their great loss (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 5 April 1934, page 8). |
