Marriage 1898

Note: BELLINGER.

BELLINGER. THURSDAY. MARRIAGES Miss Mary Jane Ellis, eldest daughter of Mr. Alfred Edward Ellis, of Bellingen, and Mr. James Drummond Leonard, only son of Captain John Leonard, of the pilot station, Camden Haven, were united together in holy matrimony, and the Rev. Chas, E, Burgess was the celebrant. There were four bridesmaids, Misses Flo, Linnie, and Elsie Ellis, and Tellie Hicks; two pages, Masters Sid. and Reg. Ellis. Mr. Ellis gave his daughter away, while Mr. Ted Ellis (uncle of the bride) was groomsman. The dresses and hall decorations were beyond our describing. The latter did indeed reflect great credit upon Mrs. T. K. Radcliffe, Misses Kirkwood (2), and Mr. C, Foulker. After the ceremony about 60 guests sat down to the usual wedding breakfast, at which the usual toasts were proposed and duly honoured (Clarence and Richmond Examiner, Saturday 13 August 1898, page 5).
