Death of a brother | Jacob Russell Jackson 12 April 1927 (aged 84 years) Obituary Mr J. R. Jackson There passed away on Tuesday 5th inst., at his residence Cobbora Street, Dunedoo, Jacob Russel Jackson, after a long illness. The remains were conveyed to Mudgee, and placed in the Church where a short service was held, and the funeral took place at half past two, to the C. of E. portion of the Mudgee Cemetery, the Rev C. H. Searle of Coolah officiated at the graveside, and Mr J. C. Swords of Mudgee conducted the funeral arrangements. There were a number of relatives and friends from Rylstone and Running Stream present at the church service and interment. The late Mr Jackson was born at Rylstone 74 years ago, and lived about Rylstone and Mudgee for the greatest part of his life, following up farming pursuits. A few years ago he retired and came to Dunedoo to live where other members of his family were settled. At the age of 23 he married Miss Hannah Shanklin, of Flatlands, Rylstone, and a little over 17 months ago the couple celebrated their golden wedding. Four sons predeceased him, one of whom was killed in action in France during the late war. A widow, four sons and three daughters are left to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father. Following are the names of the children, Harry, Armatree; George, Birriwa; Charles, Dunedoo; Jake, Burren Junction; Mrs G. Hayes, Dunedoo; Mr Grundy, Belmore; Alice, Sydney. Two sisters survive him, Mrs W. Farrar, Rylstone, and Mrs Kable, Sydney. An upright honest and charitable man has gone to his well earned rest. Mudgee Guardian Thursday 14 April 1927 p. 35 |
