Religious marriage | Claude Richard Farrar — View this family 24 March 1934 (aged 26 years) Farrer - Grimshaw A VERY pretty wedding was celebrated at Glen Alice church by the Rev. G. H. Mathers on Saturday, March 24, when Violet May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Grimshaw, of "Valley Apiary," Glen Alice, was married to Claude Richard Farrer, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Farrer, of "Warrangee Park," Bogey. The church was beautifully decorated with pink roses and white Easter daisies by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, presented a charming picture in a frock of ivory satin and silver lace. She wore the customary wreath and veil and carried a sheaf of gladioli and cream roses. The bridesmaids were the Misses Lily Grimshaw (sister of the bride), Doreen Dunn and Grace Masters. They were prettily attired in ankle length frocks of pink organdi, layers of frills forming the short sleeves. They also wore frilled organdi gloves to match and covered their heads with pink tulle. Each carried an early Victorian posy of pink gladioli and roses. The bouquets were provided by Tollow, of Sydney. Mr. Ivan Farrer (ber of the bridegroom) was best man and Messrs Les and Laurie Grimshaw were groomsmen. The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, where the mother of the bride received the guests wearing an ankle length frock of beige lace and hat to tone. Mrs Farrer (mother of the bridegroom) wore black morocain relieved with cream lace and hat to match. There were numerous valuable wedding presents, including a number of cheques. The bridegroom presented the bride with an opal brooch set in diamonds. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a gold-mounted packet wallet. The bridegroom's gifts to the bridesmaids were pink crystal pendants to match their frocks. The wedding cake, made and presented by Mrs J. Farrer, was a work of art. After the reception the happy couple left by car for Sydney on their honeymoon tour. The bride travelled in a frock of pansy morocain trimmed with beige lace with beige coat and hat to match. Their future home will be at Bogey. Mudgee Guardian,, Monday 9 April 1934, p. 8. Wedding Farrar and Grimshaw |
