Death of a brother | James McManus 1932 (aged 47 years) Mr. JAMES McMANUS The death occurred recently at Penrith, of Mr James McManus, late of Bylong, at the age of 52 years. The late Mr McManus was the son of the late Mr and Mrs James McManus of "Ferndale," Ilford, and resided in the Mudgee District for nearly thirty years, removing about five years ago to Penrith. Some years ago, the late Mr McManus met with a serious and painful accident at Bylong, resulting in his removal to Sydney hospital, and permanently affecting his health. His last sickness was long and painful, and his death took place on the 27th ult. Mr McManus is survived by his wife and four children, Vernie Claude, Mavis, Faith, and Betty. The following bers and sisters were present: Mr P. McManus, Clandulla; Mr F. McManus, Ilford; Mr J. McManus, Kandos; Mrs J. Murray, Auburn; Mrs J. Caughey, Mudgee; Mrs D. O'Brien, Clovelly, Miss B. McManus, Sydney. The funeral took place in the Catholic portion of the Kingswood cemetery (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 6 October 1932, page 1). |

Ellena O'Brien, of Waverley, died in a Mudgee private hospital on Sunday afternoon, after a short illness, at the age of 50. The late Mrs. O'Brien came to Rylstone a few weeks ago for the funeral of her ber. From Rylstone she came on to Mudgee to stay with her sister, Mrs. J. Caughey, of Perry Street, becoming suddenly ill a few days prior to her death. She was born in the Rylstone district, and had lived both there and in Mudgee. A husband and two children, all of Sydney, survive, and to them the "Guardian" extends its deepest sympathy. The funeral took place on Monday in the Rylstone Cemetery, the rites at the graveside being conducted by Rev. Father Healey, of Kandos, after a service had been conducted in the Mudgee Roman Catholic Church by Rev. Father O'Byrne. Funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. J. C. Swords and Son (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 27 June 1935, page 1). |
