RYLSTONE AND KANDOS NEWS (From our Representative). WEDDING Hextell - Walsh A very pretty wedding, which created more than ordinary interest, was solemnised in St. Lawrence's Church of England on Saturday, February 26th, when Florence Iris, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walsh, of Rodgers St., Kandos was united in wedlock to Basil, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hextell, of Macquarie Vale, Kelso. The ceremony, was performed by the Rev. Godfrey Kircher. The church was very prettily decorated by girl friends of the bride, who is a popular member of the Kandos younger set and also of the Church of England Girls' Friendly Society, the decorations being carried out with beautiful shades of asters, while each pew had a huge bow of blue and white ribbon. The flowers were grown in Kandos and were the gift of the Kandos Cement Company. The marriage brought about what was practically a reunion of many relatives and old friends of both families who, in some cases, had not seen each other for years. Mr. Walsh, sen., who represents Kandos in the Rylstone Shire Council, is a well-known breeder of blood stock, having bred many well-known winners throughout N.S.W. Unfortunately, a few days ago he had the bad luck to meet with a nasty accident owing to a fall from one of his horses and sustained slight concussion. However, he was able to be present and give his daughter away. The church was crowded with friends and relatives of both families, many having to remain outside. Both sides of the streets were lined with people and their cars, who had come long distances to be present at the wedding of this young couple. At the home of the bride's parents a huge pile of beautiful and costly presents of choice cut glass and silverware, not forgetting a number of clocks and electric irons and also several cheques from distant friends amply demonstrated the couple's popularity. Among the large number present were visitors from Sydney, Coonamble, Newcastle, Orange, Cudgegong, Mudgee, Wallerawang, Richmond, Liverpool, Bathurst, and Glen Alice. During the wedding ceremony the choir sang "The voice that breathed o'er Eden," with Mrs. Peerman at the organ, and Mrs. Chas. Davis sang very sweetly "Because." The bride, who looked charming as she entered the church on the arm of her father, chose for her wedding gown all white crepe Jerseek, and her beautiful veil of net was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a trailing bridal bouquet of frangipanni and orange blossoms, and was preceded by two dainty flower girls, Joan and Shirley Walsh (her sisters). The bridesmaids were the Misses Olive and Mavis Walsh. Sister and cousin of the bride respectively. Both wore frocks of blue crepe Jerseek trimmed with sliver lame and carried bouquets of pink gladioli. The Flower girls wore lemon georgette and carried gold baskets of blue and white flowers. Mr. Hilton Hextell, bRother of the bridegroom, acted as best man, and Mr. Hilton Walsh was groomsman. After the wedding a reception was held in the Blue Mill, where Mrs. Walsh, who wore navy cascade crepe relieved with white, assisted by Mrs. Hextell, who chose navy sheen also relieved with white, received the large number of guests. The breakfast table was very nicely decorated with pink and white cactus dahlias, these also being a gift from the Kandos Cement Co. The huge wedding cake was of diamond shape with many pretty and dainty emblems worked in icing, and the flowered top also supported two small silver bells. The cake was made by the bride's mother and the decorations were carried out by Mr. Langham. The usual toasts were enthusiastically honored. The bride's travelling frock was of navy blue crepe miracord with navy accessories Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 3 March 1938, p. 16. Wedding Hextell and Walsh
