COX - OLDFIELD The Methodist Church, Limestone, was the scene of a quiet, but pretty wedding on, Wednesday evening, 28th July when Rev. S. G. Drummond, of Rylstone, joined in the holy bonds of matrimony, Mr. Albert Harold Cox, youngest son of Mr. William Cox, of Triangle, near Mudgee, and Miss Ruby May Oldfield, eldest daughter of Mr. James C. Oldfield, of Lucknor, Stony Pinch. The church was prettily decorated by the bride's friends. Mrs. Drummond played, "The Voice That Breathed O'er Eden" while the choir sang as the bride entered the church on the arm of her father, who gave her away. She was prettily attired in ivory crepe de chene over ivory broche, with long square train, trimmed with orange blossoms and true lovers' knots of seed pearls. The vest of the bodice was nicely trimmed with silver embroidery and pearls, and orange blossoms. She also wore the customary wreath and veil, the latter being kindly lent by the bride's cousin, Mrs. Buckley, Sydney, who used it herself in 1915. The bride carried a beautiful bouquet of white stocks, jonquils, and asparagus fern, with long white streamers. The bridesmaids were Misa Doris Oldfield, sister of the bride (who was attired in ivory crepe de chene, with tunic and vest of shadow lace, and white hat trimmed with moss roses and ivory ribbon), and Miss Nellie Cox, sister of the bridegroom (attired in ivory silk voile, silk hat, with white posy. Both bridesmaids carried pretty bouquets of choice flowers. Mr. Les. Cox, bRother of the groom, filled the role of best man. As the happy young couple left the church they were showered with confetti. Later in the evening they left for their future home "Westwood," Gulgamree. The presents were numerous and costly. On Friday night, prior to the wedding, the friends of the bride gave her a kitchen tea, held at her father's residence. Many very useful gifts were received. Late J. C. Oldfield ESTEEMED DISTRICT IDENTITY. The death of Mr. James Charles Oldfield, of Stony Pinch, which occurred in a private hospital in Mudgee on Tuesday last, after an illness extending over several weeks, is sincerely regretted by all classes of the community. He was 61 years at the end. Deceased, who resided in the Mudgee district practically all his life, was a man of sterling character, whose word was his bond. Many years ago he acquired land in the vicinity of Stony Pinch, and, being industrious to a degree, he gradually increased his holding, which was stocked with sheep of sound breeding. Some years ago he decided to contest a seat on the Pastures Protection Board, and the great support he received from stock-owners throughout the district was ample evidence of the high regard in which he was held. With his colleagues on the Board he was extremely popular, and his opinions were always respected. A generous neighbor and firm friend, he naturally attracted and held the affection and esteem of all with whom he came into close contact and his demise will be generally regretted. The remains were conveyed to his home at Stony Pinch on Wednesday by Mr. J. C. Swords, funeral director, and were laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Cudgegong cemetery on Thursday morning, the Rev. W. B. Thomson, of Rylstone, performing the last sad rites at the graveside. The funeral was one of the largest and most representative ever seen in the district, friends from all surrounding centres, including Mudgee, being among the mourners. V.W. Bro. E. Hume, Wor. Bro. E. Bartlett, and Bros. C. Clark and W. Perram, of Lodge Edinburgh, St. John, Mudgee with which order deceased had been associated for a considerable period, acted as pall-bearers. The deceased is survived by a widow and the following sons and daughters, to whom we join in extending sympathy: - William James (Manly), Percy Harold (Stony Pinch), Mrs. A. Cox (Limestone), Mrs. T. E. Spratt (Mudgee), Mrs. G. Marks (Mudgee), Mrs. F. R. Lowe (Bylong), and Miss Vera Oldfield (Stony Pinch). Mudgee Guardian, Monday 30 May 1927, p. 2. Obituary James Charles Oldfield

Note: Mrs. Mary Jane Oldfield

Mrs. Mary Jane Oldfield The death of Mrs. Mary Jane Oldfield, which sad event occurred at her home in Inglis street on Tuesday evening last, came as a great shock to relatives and friends. Although she had been slightly indisposed for a short period, no serious results were an-ticipated, but the fates willed otherwise, and the end came as stated. Deceased, who was 70 years of age, was a kindly, generous soul, and delighted in the performance of good deeds. For a great many years she resided in the Stony Pinch district, where her late husband (Mr. J. C. Oldfield) was held in the very highest esteem by all classes of the community. She reared a family of seven sons and daughters, who reflected the highest possible credit on her and they are among the most worthy residents of our district. To these and other sorrowing ones the "Guardian" extends its deepest sympathy. The funeral took place to the Church of England portion of the Cudgegong cemetery this morning, the remains being laid to rest beside those of her late husband. The Rev. Canon Walker conducted an impressive service at the church and at the graveside. The arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. J. C. Swords and Son. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 2 June 1938, p. 3.
