Death of Mr Sam Brownlow. CAUSED BY FALLING FROM A BALCONY. The death took place in the Mudgee District Hospital on Friday night of Mr. Samuel Brownlow, who recently met with a severe and painful accident by falling from the balcony of the Woolpack Hotel. Mr. Brownlow was a well-known resident of Windeyer, and was also well acquainted with some of the old Mudgeeites with whom he came in contact as a horse trainer. The deceased, who leaves a wife and grown up family, was 67 years of age. Mr. Brownlow came to Mudgee early last week, and owing to business engagements, could not leave on his return on Tuesday night as he planned. Therefore he stayed at the Woolpack Hotel. Early on Wednesday morning Mr. T. Underwood heard sounds indicating that someone was in distress. He went to the front of the hotel where he found Mr. Brownlow lying on the footpath suffering from a broken thigh. Medical attention was immediately procured, and the unfortunate man was removed to the Mudgee District Hospital, where, as stated, he passed away on Friday night. To the bereaved wife and family we tender our deep sympathy. The funeral took place to the Church of England portion of the Long Creek cemetery on Sunday. Mr J. C. Sword having charge of the mortuary arrangements. Mudgee Guardian, Monday 14 January 1918, p. 2. Obituary Samuel Brownlow

Note: Obituary

Obituary MRS. BROWNLOW. The death took place in the Portland District Hospital on February 11, of Mrs. Brownlow, relict of the late Samuel Brownlow, of Long Creek. Deceased left her home at Long Creek on December 28 for a few months holiday, as she had been in indifferent health for some time. On arrival at the residence of her son, David, at Portland, she became very ill, and had to be conveyed to hospital. There she was attended by Drs. Wilson, of Portland, and Malcolm, of Lithgow, but despite the best of medical skill and careful nursing she passed away as stated. Her sufferings were great, but she bore her trials very patiently to the last and had a peaceful death. Her family of nine sons and daughters watched anxiously by her bedside for a week before she died. The following family is left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother: Mrs. Taylor (Windeyer), Mrs. Garrett (Beecroft), Mrs. Williams (Portland), Miss Pansy (Mudgee), Miss Annie (Long Creek), David, Roland, James (Portland), and Arthur (Long Creek). Her remains were conveyed by car and laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Windeyer Cemetery on February 12. Mudgee Guardian, Monday 25 February 1924, p. 16. Obituary Agnus Brownlow
