The Death of Mr. John Ashton. The death of Mr. John Ashton occurred very shortly before the "Guardian" went to press on Monday, and was briefly reported in that day's paper. The late Mr. John Ashton, who was 57 years of age, had for some time been living at Mudgee, with his nephew, Mr. Gerald Fitzgerald, of the Oriental Hotel, and it was there that his death of which double pneumonia was the cause, occurred. The deceased gentleman had a more than usually amiable and pleasing disposition, which united to endear him to a large circle of friends, to whom the news of his death will come as a painful shock. He is survived by a widow, two sons (Messrs. Conelius and Bert Ashton) and two married daughters. Mr. George Ashton, of Turill, is his only ber, and Mesdames James Fitzgerald (Sydney, formerly of Uarbry), John Nairne (Turill) and McMahon (Turill) are his sisters. The body was taken on Friday (by Mr. J. C. Swords, who had charge of the funeral arrangements) to Uarbry, where he was buried in the Cathlic portion of the general cemetery. The Very Rev. DEATHS ASHTON, Cornelius. - February 5, 1980, at hospital, late of Gulgong and Blackheath, loved husband of the late Bridie, loved father of William, Merle, Melba, Carmel, Bride, Johnny and Mick (deceased), and dear grandfather and great grandfather of their families, aged 86 years.
