Wilson joined in the holy bonds of matrimony Leslie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Imber, of Spring Flat, Mudgee, and Hilda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pickett, of "Autumn Hill," Cassilis (late of Lue). The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in silk-striped ninon, with handsome trimmings of net, and wore the orthodox wreath and veil. She carried a bouquet of bridal roses and ferns, and wore a gold bangle set with rubies, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaid, Miss Phyllis Pickett, was prettily attired in cream voile, trimmed with guipure insertion. She wore a cream hat trimmed with a spray of pink roses, also a gold brooch with amethyst, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. Vincent Pickett, ber of the bride, acted as best man. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a silver-mounted travelling roll. After the ceremony, the bridal party returned to "Autumn Hill," where the wedding breakfast was partaken of. The wedding cake was the gift of Mr. and Mrs. B. N. Reid, of Kogarah. "The Voice that Breathed Oe'r Eden" was nicely rendered by sisters and friends of the bride after the ceremony. Miss Bertha Pickett presided at the organ. The happy couple afterwards left for Mudgee, their future home. The presents are too numerous to mention. Death of a husband | James Imber 24 February 1928 (aged 73 years) Passing of a Pioneer MR J. IMBER DEAD. One of the fine old pioneers who were so closely associated with the district's progress passed to his long home on Friday. We refer to Mr James Imber, who, taking ill a few days previously, was conveyed to the local hospital, where he died as stated, a severe attack of gastritis being responsible for his unexpected ending. Deceased, who was 82 years of age, resided in the district practically all his life, and right up till the sudden seizure enjoyed robust health. He was a great sporting character, and his stories of the cricket battles of the very early days were a rare treat for those interested in the game of games. He was a familiar figure at all matches played in Mudgee, and his interest was an object lesson to the younger generation. He will be missed, mot only by cricket followers, but by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He is survived by a widow and the following sons and daughters, to whom we extend sincere sympathy: Leslie (Mudgee), Sidney and Albert (Coolah), William and Jack (Sydney), and Mesdames B. Reed, Potter, Levy, and Grant (Sydney). The funeral took place to the Church of England portion of the local cemetery, Mr J. C. Swords being in charge of the arrangements. Death of a son | Albert James Cox 1935 (aged 80 years) Age: 60 Mr. A. J. Imber EARLY in February Mr. Albert John Imber, a well-known Mudgee resident, sustained shocking injuries when a tree fell on him at Collingwood. Admitted to the local hospital, everything possible was done to relieve his sufferings, and for a time it was thought that his badly-mangled leg might be saved. Serious symptoms, however, developed at the week-end, when it was found imperative to amputate the limb. The operation proved successful, but the ordeal was too great for the patient, and he passed away on Sunday morning. Deceased, who was 60 years of age, had resided in the district practically all his life, and has left behind him a large number of devoted friends. An aged mother and several other near relatives are left to mourn, and to the sorrowing ones the "Guardian" extends sincere sympathy. The funeral took place to the Church of England portion of the general cemetery this afternoon. Mudgee Guardian, Monday 15 April 1935, p. 1. Death Albert John Imber |
