Note: PASSING OF RYLSTONE PIONEER

PASSING OF RYLSTONE PIONEER Mrs. Martha Bayliss It is with extreme regret that we have to chronicle the death of yet another or the old pioneers of the Rylstone district, in the person of Mrs. Bartha Bayliss, of Calderwood road, who passed away at her home at 4 a.m. on Friday, June 9, aged 83. Deceased had been a semi-invalid for a number of years, but could get about fairly comfortably until about three weeks prior to her death, but was compelled to take to her bed following on a stroke. Members of the family were with her during the evening of Thursday, and remarked how improved she appeared to be, laughing and joking with various ones, but this proved merely the "flash in the pan," and in the early hours of the morning she passed peacefully away. Deceased was born at Richmond, coming to this town at an early age, and marrying the late John Bayliss, who for many years was employed as a boundary rider on Rawden estate. For a considerable period Mr. and Mrs. Bayliss lived at Pinnacle Swamp, and later on removed to Morton Main. To the union five sons were born, namely, Albert, Herbert, Harry, Charles and Wilfred, all of whom are residing in the district today; whilst the only daughter, Blanche, died some few years ago. To the entire family we extend our heartfelt sympathy in their sad loss. Mudgee Guardian, Monday 12 June 1933, p. 6. Obituary Martha Bayliss

Death 22 August 1942 (aged 61 years)
