DEATH AT LUE.

We regret to have to record the death of a very old resident of Lue, in the person of Mrs. Ann Pickett at the advanced age of 88 years of age. Her death took place on the 28th July at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. J. Thompson, of the LueHotel, with whom she had resided since the death of her husband (Mr. Samuel Pickett) some twelve years ago. The deceased lady had been a resident of the district for over sixty years. She leaves a family of 4 sons and 8 daughters, besidesgrandchildren and great-grand children. The funeral was very largely attended. The Rev. Mr. Walker, of Rylstone, officiated at the graveside. (Mudgee Guardian and North Western Representative, Thursday 14 August 1913, p. 23).

DEATH Mr. John Thompson THE death has occurred in Sydney of Mr. John Thompson, one of the best-known and highly respected residents of Lue. The late Mr. Thompson had lived at Lue practically all his life, and had taken a remarkably active part in the business life of the town, having conducted a hotel, store and butchery. Mr. Thompson's passing will be very deeply regretted, not only at Lue, but right throughout the Mudgee district, and the "Guardian" joins with those who are extending their sympathy to the bereaved. DEATH Mrs. Thompson The death occurred in the Mudgee Hospital on Saturday night of Mrs Jemima Harriet West Thompson, aged 74 years. Deceased was the widow of the late Mr. John Thompson, who was Lue's chief business man for very many years. She was well-known and deeply respected throughout the district, and her passing will be sincerely regretted by a wide circle of devoted friends. The funeral, which took place to the Church of England portion of the Lue cemetery this morning, was attended by many old friends of the family. The Rev. Obituary: ATHOL THOMPSON Athol Thompson passed away on April 2, aged 86, at Allora Hospital in Queensland. Mr Thompson spent most of his young life in Lue before marrying Marge Currie of Rylstone. Together the couple moved to Goolma and opened a bakery at the commencement of the building of the railway from Sandy Hollow to Merryvale. Later they moved to Cassilis and took ownership of the bakery before buying a poultry farm near Gulgong. The couple later retired and moved to Tottenham where they stayed until moving 12 months ago to Allora, Queensland, to be near his families. Mr Thompson was the loved husband of Marge, father and father-in-law of Martin and Ann, William and Heather, Merrylyn and Douglas and treasured grandfather of their children.
