DEATHS Mr. CORNELIUS LYONS, SEN. The death occurred at his residence, on Friday morning last of Mr. Cornelius Lyons, aged 87 years. The deceased, who was a very old and respected resident of the district was born in County Kerry (Ireland) and came to New South Wales about 55 years ago, and bought a farm at Appletree Flat. Although he had only a small farm he progressed well, and about 14 years ago came to Mudgee to live in retirement with his wife, who died over two years ago. The deceased owned a number of cottages in Mudgee. He leaves one son, Mr Patrick Lyons of Perry-Street Mudgee, and the following daughters:- Mrs. Edward Page (late of Mullamuddy, and now of Mudgee), Mrs. Patrick Toohey (Mudgee), Mrs. G. Johnson (Mudgee), Mrs. W. Garretty (Cooyal) and Mrs. W. Blackman (Sydney). The deceased was a practical and devout Catholic. The morning he died he had been to Mass, and just after eating his breakfast he suddenly collapsed in his chair and died. He leaves 53 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.The remains were interred in the Catholic portion of the General Cemetery on Saturday afternoon last, the Very Rev. DEATHS Mr. Patrick Lyons THE death occurred in Mudgee on Saturday of Mr. Patrick Lyons, aged 70 years, who had not enjoyed the best of health for some time past. Deceased had resided in the district practically all his life, and was well known and very highly esteemed by all classes of the community. Before the funeral moved off on Sunday afternoon an impressive service was held in the Catholic Church by the Right Rev. Monsignor Flanagan, while the last sad rites at the graveside were performed by the Rev. Father Duffy. To the sorrowing widow and family of one son and four daughters the sympathy of the whole district will be extended. Mr. H. Barton had charge of the arrangements.
