Note: In Memoriam.

In Memoriam.

We much regret, to have to record, the death of Mr. William J. King, eldest son of Mr. Albert King, of Rylstone. The deceased some twelve months ago had to have his leg amputated for malignant disease of the bones of the foot. He completely recovered from the operation, but a few months afterwards was seized with an attack of pneumonia and pleurisy, and for the past ten months has been in Mudgee under the care of Dr. Nickoll. The heart became seriously affected, and his condition was recognised as serious although a sudden fatal termination was not anticipated. Mr. King was at Mrs. Crawford's hospital, and death relieved him from his sufferings last night, his mother being with him. The remains will be taken to Rylstone where the interment will take place at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday). Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 26 September 1901, p. 12. William King In memoriam

Rylstone News

The death of Mr. W. King, which occurred in Mudgee last Wednesday, came with no surprise to his friends, who expected that the poor fellow could not possibly live through such sufferings. For two long years poor Billy (as he was known by almost everybody) had struggled on manfully against great odds, but despite medical science and tenderly care his days were cut short by the hand of Death at the comparatively early age of 32 years. The family of deceased have been singularly unfortunate, this, I believe, being the sixth member laid to rest. I desire to extend my deepest sympathy to the bereaved family in this, their latest trouble. The funeral was largely attended, the interment taking place in the Church of England portion, the Rev. Sealy Vidal officiating at the grave. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 3 October 1901, p. 18. William King Obituary
