A VETERAN'S DEATH. The death took place on Friday of Mr. John Harris, of Melrose, aged 78 years. Deceased, who had been in the State for 56 years, had resided at Melrose for 35 years. Senile decay was the cause of death He had been ailing a long time. His wife predeceased him by two years at the age of 74. The deceased leaves eight children to mourn, they being Mrs. Burgess (Parramatta), Mr. James Harris (Penrith), Mrs. Thompson (Newcastle), Mrs. Hurrell, and George, William, Edward, and Mrs. J. Byrnes, of Mudgee. He also leaves 25 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The funeral took place on Saturday, Mr. L. M. Dunstan officiating. Mr. J. C. GEORGE HENRY HARRIS It is with deep regret that we have to report the death of Mr. George Henry Harris of Bombarra Hill, Mudgee. Deceased, who was 57 years of age, died at a private hospital this morning from pneumonia and pleurisy. He is survived by a widow and two sons, Jack (aged 21), Wilfred Hillier, and one daughter (Mary). Deceased was greatly respected by every one who knew him, for his upright, honest, charitable and kindly disposition and unassuming manner. The funeral will leave the Church of England at 2.15pm and all the brethren of the M.U.I.O.O.F are asked to attend. Mr. J. C. Swords will conduct the funeral arrangements. DEATHS Mr. W. T. Harris A WELL-KNOWN resident of Melrose and Mullamuddy, William Thomas Harris, passed away in a private hospital yesterday afternoon, at the age of 73. Deceased was a highly-esteemed citizen of Melrose and Mullamuddy, where he had lived all his life. He was born at Melrose. To the sorrowing widow our sympathy is extended. The funeral took place this afternoon to the Church of England portion of the Mudgee Cemetery, the Rev. A. G. Powell officiating. Arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. J. C. Swords and Son. DEATH Mrs. J. Byrnes Mrs. Eleanor Esther Byrnes, wife of Mr. J. Byrnes, of Broombee, died in the Mudgee Hospital this morning, aged 74 years. She had been an inmate of the institution for about a week. The greater part of her life was spent in the Broombee district, where she was held in the highest regard by the whole community. Like her husband, she was a keen supporter of the Mudgee Agricultural Society, and exhibited with great success in the prepared fruits and cookery sections at local shows. She was a wonderful neighbour, a devoted wife, and a fond mother, and her passing came as a terrible shock to her family and friends, to whom universal sympathy is extended. The members of the family are Mrs. V. J. Doherty (Sydney), and Messrs. James, Francis, and Albert (Broombee). The funeral will take place from St. Mary's Church at 2 o'clock to-morrow (Tuesday) afternoon, Messrs. J. C. Swords & Son being in charge of the arrangements.
