Weddings RYAN - TARRANT. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. John's Church of England yesterday afternoon, when the Rev. Canon Dunstan united in the holy bonds of matrimony William J. Ryan, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ryan, of Havilah, and Marjorie Nellie ("Lola"), youngest daughter of Mrs. J. Tarrant, of Market-street, Mudgee. The bride entered the church on the arm of her bRother, Mr. T. Tarrant, who gave her away. She was gowned in white ninon voile, trimmed with lace, and wore a train and the customary wreath and veil, and carried a magnificent bouquet of flowers, from Searls, Ltd., Sydney. The bride had been dressed by Miss Nora Stapleton. The bridesmaids were Miss Olive Ryan, (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Alma Marks. Miss Ryan wore an elegant gown of heliotrope silk muslin, with lace trimmings, and black hat, touched with heliotrope. Miss Marks' dress was pale pink silk muslin and lace. Each bridesmaid carried a bouquet of red carnations and wore a black tulle hat with streamers. Mrs. Tarrant (bride's mother) was attired in a dress of silk voile, with heliotrope trimmings, carried a bouquet of purple asters, and wore a hat to match. Miss S. Conn (aunt of the bride) wore a dress of crepe de chine, and carried a bouquet of pink and pale blue asters, and had a hat to match. Mrs. A. McKellar (Coolah) (cousin of the bride) was dressed in a gown of brown crepe de chine, and wore a pink hat. The bridegroom's mother was attired in navy blue silk. Mr. Ernest Ryan (bRother of the bridegroom) was best man, and Mr. William Barton was groomsman. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsome diamond brooch, and the bride's present to the bridegroom a pair of gold sleeve links. The bridegroom's presents to the bridesmaids were handsome silver bags. The wedding breakfast was served at Miss Conn's rooms. The Rev. Canon Dunstan presided at the breakfast, at which the usual toasts were honored. A table was very heavily laden with a handsome collection of numerous and costly presents. Amongst these was a fine silver cake basket, and a set of silver afternoon tea forks, presented by the employees of Messrs. W. Kellett and Sons, and also a hand some wicker afternoon tea table from the firm of W. Kellett and Sons. Mr. and Mrs. Ryan left by last evening's train for Sydney, where the honeymoon will be spent, after which they will return to Havilah, their future home. The bride's travelling dress was a gown of nattier blue, with old rose trimmings, and hat to match. The bride was very popular, and was held in the very highest esteem by her numerous Mudgee and district friends. The esteem in which the bride was held by her friends was expressed on Saturday afternoon, when a large number of her friends assembled at Miss Conn's refreshment rooms, where she was entertained at afternoon tea and presented with a handsome silver flower stand. All present had their photos taken. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 26 February 1920, p. 19. Wedding Ryan and Tarrant

Note: DEATH

DEATH Mr. Ellis Malvern THE death occurred in Sydney recently of Mr. Ellis Malvern, of Havilah, aged 55 years. Deceased, who was born on the old estate, lived there practically all his life, and was held in the very highest esteem by a great many people throughout the district. During the past four years he suffered greatly from hydatids, and underwent several operations in Sydney hospitals. The dread complaint gradually sapped his strength, and for some time previous to the end he was unable to leave his bed. By Mr. Malvern's passing the Mudgee district has lost a fine, upright citizen, and the deepest regret will be expressed on all sides. The funeral, which took place to the Church of England portion of the Havilah cemetery, was largely attended, friends being present from far and near to pay their last sad tribute of respect. The Rev. L. Walker officiated at the graveside. To the sorrowing widow, two sons, and one daughter, the sympathy of the whole countryside will be extended. The following bers and sisters are also left to mourn: William (Lue), Harry (Mudgee), James (Arncliffe), Arthur (Coolah), Robert (Mascot), Mrs. Vincent (Hurstville), Mrs. Barton (Havilah), Mrs. Keech (Concord), and Mrs. Wurth (Concord).
