DEATH OF MR FRANCIS SKINNER. We regret to announce the death of Mr. Francis Skinner, a very old and respected resident of Mudgee, at the age of 79 years. The deceased had resided at Tunnabutta for many years, and leaves a grown-up family of five sons and five daughters, including Messrs. John Skinner (Stoney Creek), W. Skinner (Tunnabutta), and Mrs. S. Miller (Mudgee). The funeral cortege will leave deceased's residence, Mortimer-street West, at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow, for the general cemetery. FUNERAL OF THE LATE MR FRANCIS SKINNER. The funeral of the late Mr. Francis Skinner was largely attended, on Tuesday afternoon, the burial service being conducted by Rev. J. B. Penman. Local Brevities The funeral of Mrs. Emily Skinner took place on Friday afternoon last to the Methodist portion of the general cemetery, the cortege being a lengthy one. The Rev. G. Laverty performed the last sad rites at the graveside, while Mr. J. C. Swords had charge of the funeral arrangements. Deceased was a native of Kurrajong Heights, near Richmond, and was nearly in her 73rd year. She had been over 50 years married, and her husband pre-deceased her by a little over four years. The late Mrs. Skinner was the mother of a large family - seven sons and two daughters - as follows: - Mr. F. Skinner, Scone; Mr. W. L. Skinner, Tunnabutta; Mr. J. S. Skinner, Stony Pinch: Mr. G. WEDDING. ROBBINS - SKINNER. The marriage was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Mudgee, on Saturday afternoon, by the Rev. S. G. Drummond (Rylstone), of Mr. Bert Robbins, son of Mr. and Mrs W. Robbins, of Rylstone, and Miss Doris Skinner, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Skinner, of Stony Pinch. Miss Irene Robbins was bridesmaid, and Private James Robbins was best man. Mr. and Mrs. Robbins left by the evening train for their future home at Rylstone (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 12 September 1918, page 10).

OBITUARY. F. R. SKINNER. The death took place on July 25, of Mr. F. R. Skinner, 79, of Narrabri, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. C. Wrigley, Kensington, Sydney, after a long and painful illness. He had been a resident of Narrabri for over 20 years coming from the Dubbo district where he followed farming pursuits. He was a native of Richmond and his father, the late Mr. F. Skinner, was one of the pioneers of the Mudgee district. He leaves a wife, one son and five daughters, Mr. Stan Skinner (Narrabri), Mrs. J. Mcintosh (Sydney), Mrs. C. Wrigley (Sydney), Mrs. G. Francis (Sydney), Mrs. L. Drury (Sydney) and Mrs. S. Bayliss (Wollongong). His remains were interred in the Methodist portion of the Field of Mars Cemetery, Ryde, Sydney, the funeral service being conducted by the Rev. J. Newman, and Rev. Bradshaw, late of Narrabri. DEATHS. MR. WILLIAM SKINNER. The death occurred last Friday afternoon of William Lawson Skinner, aged 78. He had been ill for some time and died in a private hospital at Mudgee. He leaves a widow and a grown up family. Mr. Skinner was a well known resident of Tunnabutta, near Cudgegong, where he owned a farm. His family has been in this district for many years, and his death will be a sad loss to all those who knew him. The funeral took place last Saturday. OBITUARY. MR. WILLIAM LAWSON SKINNER. We deeply regret to have to report the death recently, in a Mudgee private hospital, of Mr. William Lawson Skinner, another of Mudgee's esteemed pioneers, at the age of 78 years. The deceased, who was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Skinner of Tunnabutta, had been living in the family home for 75 years. He was well liked by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, which is not to be wondered at, as he was, besides being of a kindly nature, a straight dealing man. The deceased gentleman was a very active man, and was probably the oldest Mudgee district man holding a motor driver's license at the time of his death. He had seen Mudgee grow from a very small place, and his tales of the early days were always interesting. Besides a widow, he is survived by one son and four daughters. In addition, he is survived by three bers and two sisters, including Messrs. George and Herbert Skinner, of Gilgandra. The remains were taken to St. John's Church of England, Mudgee, where Canon Walker held a service, after which they were taken to the Mudgee cemetery for interment, where the same reverend gentleman performed the last sad rites. FARMER PASSES.

DEATH OF MR. G. SKINNER.

After a lingering illness the death occurred at Chinnock Private Hospital on Thursday last of Mr. George Skinner, of "Oakleigh," Gilgandra, at the age of 77 years. For the past 18 months the deceased had been under medical treatment but it was not until about a month ago that he took a turn for the worse. Two weeks ago he was brought into Hospital where he never rallied and passed away as stated. This was probably accelerated by the fact that at that time his daughter-in-law (Mrs. Athol Skinner) succumbed to a very sudden illness and this was a great shock to him in his weakened state. The late Mr. Skinner was a familiar figure in the district for many years and was a typical illustration of a genuine farmer - a hard worker, sincere in his beliefs and not afraid at any time to express his opinion. As a neighbour he was always ready and willing to do a good turn and made many friends by his pleasant manner those whom he came in contact with. He first came to this district in 1902 and then engaged in work on the railway line that was then being constructed between Dubbo and Gilgandra. During this work he had the misfortune to break an ankle and later on a horse fell and broke his leg. Despite all these set-backs he was always recognised as a hard worker and a difficult man to follow in a hard days' work. Seeing the undoubted possibilities in the future progress of the Gilgandra district, the subject of reference took up "Oakleigh" in 1910 and resided there ever since bringing the property to one of the most up-to-date and progressive in the district. When he became a landowner he took an active part in the Farmers and Settlers Association and consistently expressed his views in no mean manner at their monthly meetings. He also took a keen interest in Shire Council matters and served for two and a half terms on the Gilgandra Shire Council. The P. and A Association also received consistent support from him, whilst any movement for the benefit of the town did not go unsupported by George Skinner. The deceased was born at Tunnabutta, near Mudgee, in 1865 and in August, 1891 married at Rylstone Miss P. B. Cooper and last year there were no more happier people than the Skinners when their golden wedding was celebrated with a function in the C.W.A. Rooms. It is worth recalling that when their silver anniversary was celebrated there was also a war. There are three children of the marriage - Cyril ("Glenyarra"), Athol ("Bristow") and Mrs. C. Moon, wife of Captain Moon of the R.T.O., Newcastle. One of their grandchildren - Georgina - has resided with them for many years. The funeral took place on Friday, the remains being laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Gilgandra cemetery, Bro. Hugh officiating.

DEATH. MRS. ADA SKINNER. The death occurred in the Mudgee Hospital this morning of Mrs. Ada Skinner, wife of Mr. John Skinner, of Mudgee, aged 76 years. Deceased was in attendance at the Methodist Church on Sunday last, and appeared to be in her usual health, but during the evening she took a bad turn, and was ordered to hospital by her medical adviser. For many years, deceased resided with her family at Stony Pinch, and in that locality she was held in the very highest regard. Her passing will be deeply deplored on all sides. A sorrowing husband, sons and daughters are left to mourn, and the bereaved ones will have the sympathy of the whole community. The funeral will take place to the Methodist portion of the general cemetery at 11 o'clock to-morrow (Friday) morning. Messrs. J. C. Swords and Son being in charge of the arrangements.
