Death of a father | Alfred Yeo 1951 (aged 54 years) Age: 78 OBITUARY. MR ALFRED YEO. The death occurred at the Dunedoo District Hospital of one of the district's oldest and most highly respected residents in the person of Mr. Alfred Yeo, aged 78 years. Born at Maitland, Mr. Yeo as a baby came to this district and resided here all his life carrying out farming at "Wallaroos", Merrygoen, for many years. He was a kindly man and made a large circle of friends. A keen sportsman, he excelled at tennis and cricket. He married Miss Sarah Mason, of Dunedoo. Besides his sorrowing wife he leaves to mourn Fred, Albert, Eva (Mrs. Jame), Bob, Daisy (Mrs. Skinner), Jack and Reg. His bers and sisters are: Harry, George, James, Sam and Eliza (Mrs. Arkins). One of the biggest funeral corteges here for many years moved from the Presbyterian Church to the C. of E. portion of Mendooran cemetery. Worshipful Master H. R. Luckie conducted the Masonic service while the C. of E. Minister from Dubbo, read the prayers at the graveside. Pall bearers were Messrs. H. and N. Monk and O. Luckie. YEO The death has occurred of Mr. Albert Yeo, who was well known in the Mendooran and Dunedoo districts and who was a personality in tennis circles in the Gulgong district many years ago. The late Mr. Yeo, of “Melrose,” Merrygoen, was born at “Bolaro,” Dunedoo, and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Yeo, of Mendooran and formerly of Merrygoen. In 1912, deceased married Miss Lottie Shearman, of Goolma. Mr. Yeo was a keen sportsman, having played cricket, tennis, golf and participated in rifle shooting.
