Note: Obituary

Obituary LATE MRS. SHEARMAN The death occurred of Eliza, wife of Mr. Christie Shearman, of "Pinelea," Goolma, at the age of 74 years. Deceased was in good health until last Sunday night, when she became seriously ill, and she died on Tuesday at Parkes, where she was staying with her son, Roland. Her husband and members of the family were at her bedside when the end came. Deceased was born in Victoria, but lived practically all her life at Goolma. The body was taken to Wellington from where the funeral took place to the Church of England portion of the Spicer's Creek cemetery. The Rev. L. Caldwell, of Gulgong, officiated at the graveside, and Mr. Shakespeare, of Wellington, had charge of the funeral arrangements. Deceased was one of the most highly esteemed residents of the Goolma district, and her sudden death came as a distinct shock to all those who were fortunate enough to be numbered amongst her friends. Her charity was unbounded, and any appeal of deserving nature found her responsive. To the bereaved relatives the deepest sympathy is extended. The following sons and daughters survive: - Messrs. Ernest, Sydney; Walter, Goolma; Roland, Parkes; Arthur, Queensland; Stanley, Queensland, Mrs. Rush, Two Mile Flat: Mrs. Brophy, Sydney; and Misses Elsie and Aileen, Goolma.
