Golden wedding | 16 April 1971 (aged 74 years) FAMILY REUNION AT GOLDEN WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. Allan McPherson were married in Mudgee on April 9th 1921, and have resided in the Rylstone district for the past 50 years. There were 6 children, four are now living, they are Gordon, Strathpine, Queensland, May, Mrs. Gillespie, Kandos, Shirley Mrs. Hearne, Gymea Bay, and Colin, Rylstone. Sixty relatives and friends attended a party held in the Small Hall, Rylstone, on Saturday evening 10th. A (Golden) wedding cake made by Mrs. Aggie Mulholland and iced by Mrs. Joan Lynne took pride of place on the official table. Messages of Congratulations were received from the Governor General of Australia, Sir Paul and Lady Hasluck, Sir Roden and Lady Cutler, Governor of N.S.W. Mr. Prime Minister Mr. W. McMahon, Mr. Gough Whitlam, Leader of the A.L.P., and Mrs. Whitlam, Mr. and Mrs. C. Cutler, Deputy Premier of N.S.W. Mr. and Mrs. Askin, Premier of N.S.W. Visitors were present at the party from Strathpine, Queensland, Melbourne, Inverell, Richmond, Penrith, Muswellbrook, Mudgee, Rosebery, Lithgow, Kandos and friends from Rylstone and district. Three members of parliament and their wives attended the party, they were Mr. and Mrs. Luchetti, Lithgow, Mr. and Mrs. Clive Osborne, Bathurst Mr. and Mrs. R. Evans, Rylstone and the Rylstone Shire President Mr. M. Chapman. There were 28 descendants of Mr. and Mrs. McPherson present. |

Mr. McPherson, formerly of Rylstone died in Boddington Hospital, aged 89. He was buried at Rylstone Cemetery on April 29. Obituary Allan Frederick McPherson Obituary: ALLAN FREDERICK McPHERSON Former Rylstone resident, Mr. Allan McPherson, died on April 25, at Bodington Red Cross Hospital, Wentworth Falls, aged 89. Mr. McPherson was a well known member of a pioneering family and was born at Rylstone, son of Angus and Keturah McPherson who were married at the St. James, Anglican Church, Rylstone in 1870. He was the youngest member of a family of 13 children. His wife Ethel Amy McPherson died on May 13, 1985. Mr. McPherson lived in the Rylstone area all his life, until admitted to the Bodington Red Cross Hospital, Wentworth Falls, one year ago. Surviving members of the family are son Gordon and daughter-in-law Thelma (Brisbane), daughter Shirley Costigan and son-in-law Cec (Gymea Bay), son Colin and daughter-in-law Elaine (Rylstone), daughter-in-law Eileen McPherson (Rylstone) and son-in-law Don Gillespie (Kandos). Deceased members of the family are son Keith and daughters Beris McPherson and May Gillespie. Mr. McPherson is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
