Residents Shocked SUDDEN DEATH AT UARBRY. The residents of Uarbry and surrounding district received a shock on Saturday when they learned that Mr. E. Weis, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Weis, had died suddenly at his home. The deceased had not been ailing but he collapsed suddenly, the cause of death being heart failure. Mr. Weis was aged 27 years, and about 15 months ago he married Miss Una Piper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Piper, of Uarbry. The remains were interred in the Uarbry cemetery on Sunday afternoon. The Rev. C. H. Searle, rector of St. Andrew's parish, read the burial service. We join with our readers in expressing heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved widow. Note: Death at Uarbry

Death at Uarbry MR. ERIC P. WEIS Mr. Eric Peter Weis, one of the most highly esteemed residents of the Uarbry district, died suddenly at his home on Friday evening last, at the age of 28 years. Soon after Mr. Weis had finished his evening meal, he spoke of feeling unwell and passed away very shortly afterwards. Deceased had been married only a year and the blow to his sorrowing wife is an extremely hard one. Late Mr. Weis was a farmer and grazier and a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Weis, one of the most respected residents of that district. He was universally popular and was a friend to all that he knew. His death is a severe loss, not only to his wife and the Weis family, but to the district. The funeral was held at Uarbry on Saturday, and was very largely attended, being the largest ever held there. Rev. C. H. Searle, of the C. of E. Coolah, officiated at the graveside, and in the Church of England at Uarbry, where a service was held. Mr. J. Clark, of Gulgong, carried out the funeral arrangements. Our deep sympathy is extended. Note: SUDDEN DEATH

SUDDEN DEATH THE LATE MR. E. P. WEIS. The community was shocked last Saturday when the news was received that Mr. E. P. Weis, of Uarbry, had passed away suddenly at his home on Friday evening. Mr. Weis was in usual health on Friday, and was busy all day on his farm. He ate a hearty tea and when retiring to bed he complained that he was not well and had a vomiting turn, after which he expired. It is only a little over 12 months since he was married to Miss Una Piper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Piper, well known residents of Uarbry. His remains were laid to rest at Uarbry on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Mr Searle, Anglican Minister of Coolah, officiating at the graveside. The funeral was the largest ever seen in the township, friends from Gulgong, Coolah, Mudgee and Cassilis attending. Both the Weis and Piper families are highly esteemed and respected in the district. To the bereaved families heartfelt sympathy is extended. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 26 April 1928, p. 16. Eric Weis Obituary

Note: DEATHS

DEATHS MR. A. WEIS A sad death occurred in Sydney on Saturday morning last, when Mr. A. Weis, a member of a highly respected Uarbry family, passed away at the early age of 34 years. Deceased, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Weis, had been ailing for some time, and proceeded to Sydney for special treatment. He was a young man of sterling character, and his death will be deeply deplored by a large circle of friends throughout the district. He is survived by a widow and infant, also many other near relatives, including Mrs. H. Roth (aunt), of Erudgere. The remains were conveyed to Uarbry yesterday, and after a service in the church the funeral, which was very largely attended, moved to the Church of England portion of the cemetery. UARBRY (From Our Representative) SAD DEATH The death took place in Sydney on the 6th inst, of Alma William Weis, eldest son of W. Weis, of Uarbry, at the age of 35. Deceased was born at Uarbry, where he had built a fine residence and resided till his death. He had only been married a few years to the only daughter of Mr. Alfred Schiemer, of Deep Creek, Coolah, and leaves a widow and one child (a son) to mourn. The remains were conveyed per train from Sydney to Mudgee, and thence to Uarbry, and after an impressive service in the Church by Rev. Cut off in the prime of life, deceased was a good son and Uarbry will miss his help in many functions for different charities. He was a good church man, and helped his church - which he never missed attending - in many ways. He also was a member of the Cricket Club and tennis club and a big help at the Uarbry Easter Sports which are held yearly. We tender the family our heartfelt sympathy in their trouble. Death of a brotherNicholas Weis
30 July 1938 (aged 77 years) Age: 72
Note: OBITUARY

OBITUARY Mr. Nicholas Weis Mr. Nicholas Weis, father of Mrs. Morien Morgan, of Dunedoo, died in the Gulgong District Hospital on Saturday night, after an illness extending over three weeks Mr. Weis, who was aged 72 years, was the victim of pneumonia, later contracting pleurisy. Deceased was born at Uarbry in the year 1885. He came to "Fairfield" in the year 1890. The property at that time was mainly scrub, and deceased was one of the first settlers in the locality. After effecting many improvements, he was one of the first to introduce lucerne growing in the Dunedoo district. The property is now mainly cleared and is regarded as one of the first-class holdings in the district. The improvements which have been effected can be attributed to the untiring energy and ceaseless toil of the late Mr. Weis. He was a man of a somewhat retiring disposition, devoted to his home and family, but was sincere in all his dealings with his neighbors. Though Mr. Weis was not often seen in public, he took a keen interest in the progress of the Dunedoo district. Those who were closely associated with him found him a trustworthy and upright man, whose code was a strict adherence to truthfulness. Mr. Weis had been married 45 years. He is survived by his widow and five daughters and one son, viz., Vera (Mrs. W. Lewis, of Campsie), Edith (Mrs. M. Morgan, Dunedoo), Doris (Hurlstone Park), Daisy (Mrs. C. Roth, Mudgee), Ivy (Mrs. R. K. McAIpine, McLean), and Clarence (Dunedoo). Other relatives are: Mrs. H. Roth (sister Mudgee), Mrs. W. Scott (sister, Gulgong), Mrs. T. Haynes (sister, Cassilis), Mr. W. Weis (brother, Uarbry), Messrs. D. McMaster, W. McMaster, and I. Weis (nephews). The sympathy of the whole district is extended to the sorrowing relatives. The funeral, which was a large one, and representative of the district, left the Dunedoo Church of England on Monday afternoon at 2.15 p.m. The remains were laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Dunedoo cemetery, the last sad rites at the graveside being performed by the Rev. L. V. Caldwell, of Gulgong. The Rev. Mr. Caldwell conducted both services in the absence of the Rev. R. Douglas, of Coolah, who had arranged to conduct a confirmation service at Merrygoen. Pall bearers were Messrs. O. L. Milling, Frank Rhodes, Keith and Edison Rowbotham. Among the many beautiful wreaths laid on the grave were those from the following:- Mrs. N. Weis and family; Susan; grand-children Joan, Ivy, and Betty; Mr. Clarrie Weis; W.M., officers, and brethren of Lodge Dunedoo 647; Mrs. C. H. Roth and family; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Roth and family; Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Milling and family; Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Leeson; Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Croft and family; Mr. and Mrs. David Kemp; Mr. P. F. Barrett; Mrs. B. J. Egan (Gulgong), Mr. R. S. Bayliss, of Gulgong, was the undertaker. To the relatives and friends of deceased, the "Guardian" extends deep sympathy.
