Death of a brother | Eric Peter Weis 20 April 1928 (aged 18 years) Residents Shocked SUDDEN DEATH AT UARBRY. The residents of Uarbry and surrounding district received a shock on Saturday when they learned that Mr. E. Weis, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Weis, had died suddenly at his home. The deceased had not been ailing but he collapsed suddenly, the cause of death being heart failure. Mr. Weis was aged 27 years, and about 15 months ago he married Miss Una Piper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Piper, of Uarbry. The remains were interred in the Uarbry cemetery on Sunday afternoon. The Rev. C. H. Searle, rector of St. Andrew's parish, read the burial service. We join with our readers in expressing heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved widow. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 26 April 1928, p. 4. Eric Weis Obituary Death at Uarbry MR. ERIC P. WEIS Mr. Eric Peter Weis, one of the most highly esteemed residents of the Uarbry district, died suddenly at his home on Friday evening last, at the age of 28 years. Soon after Mr. Weis had finished his evening meal, he spoke of feeling unwell and passed away very shortly afterwards. Deceased had been married only a year and the blow to his sorrowing wife is an extremely hard one. Late Mr. Weis was a farmer and grazier and a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Weis, one of the most respected residents of that district. He was universally popular and was a friend to all that he knew. His death is a severe loss, not only to his wife and the Weis family, but to the district. The funeral was held at Uarbry on Saturday, and was very largely attended, being the largest ever held there. Rev. C. H. Searle, of the C. of E. Coolah, officiated at the graveside, and in the Church of England at Uarbry, where a service was held. Mr. J. Clark, of Gulgong, carried out the funeral arrangements. Our deep sympathy is extended. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 26 April 1928, p. 11. Eric Weis Obituary SUDDEN DEATH THE LATE MR. E. P. WEIS. The community was shocked last Saturday when the news was received that Mr. E. P. Weis, of Uarbry, had passed away suddenly at his home on Friday evening. Mr. Weis was in usual health on Friday, and was busy all day on his farm. He ate a hearty tea and when retiring to bed he complained that he was not well and had a vomiting turn, after which he expired. It is only a little over 12 months since he was married to Miss Una Piper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Piper, well known residents of Uarbry. His remains were laid to rest at Uarbry on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Mr Searle, Anglican Minister of Coolah, officiating at the graveside. The funeral was the largest ever seen in the township, friends from Gulgong, Coolah, Mudgee and Cassilis attending. Both the Weis and Piper families are highly esteemed and respected in the district. To the bereaved families heartfelt sympathy is extended. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 26 April 1928, p. 16. Eric Weis Obituary COOLAH. CHURCH OP ENGLAND. Death of a brother | Alma William Weis 6 November 1931 (aged 21 years) LOCALS MR. A. WEIS DEATH. The death of Mr. A. Weis, of Uarbry, is deplored, as he was favorably known in Gulgong. He was a fine type and highly esteemed. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 12 November 1931, p. 13. Alma Weis Death DEATHS MR. A. WEIS A sad death occurred in Sydney on Saturday morning last, when Mr. A. Weis, a member of a highly respected Uarbry family, passed away at the early age of 34 years. Deceased, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Weis, had been ailing for some time, and proceeded to Sydney for special treatment. He was a young man of sterling character, and his death will be deeply deplored by a large circle of friends throughout the district. He is survived by a widow and infant, also many other near relatives, including Mrs. H. Roth (aunt), of Erudgere. The remains were conveyed to Uarbry yesterday, and after a service in the church the funeral, which was very largely attended, moved to the Church of England portion of the cemetery. Among the mourners were several Mudgee relatives. The Rev. Mr. Searle, of Coolah, officiated at the graveside. Mudgee Guardian, Monday 9 November 1931, p. 1. Alma Weis Obituary UARBRY (From Our Representative) SAD DEATH The death took place in Sydney on the 6th inst, of Alma William Weis, eldest son of W. Weis, of Uarbry, at the age of 35. Deceased was born at Uarbry, where he had built a fine residence and resided till his death. He had only been married a few years to the only daughter of Mr. Alfred Schiemer, of Deep Creek, Coolah, and leaves a widow and one child (a son) to mourn. The remains were conveyed per train from Sydney to Mudgee, and thence to Uarbry, and after an impressive service in the Church by Rev. Searle they were buried in the Church of England portion of the Uarbry cemetery in the presence of a very large gathering of friends and relatives. Cut off in the prime of life, deceased was a good son and Uarbry will miss his help in many functions for different charities. He was a good church man, and helped his church - which he never missed attending - in many ways. He also was a member of the Cricket Club and tennis club and a big help at the Uarbry Easter Sports which are held yearly. We tender the family our heartfelt sympathy in their trouble.
