OBITUARY

MR. ROY KURTZ

The people of Berrigan and district were sadly shocked when they were apprised of the sudden death of the local stationmaster, Mr. Roy Kurtz, which occurred on Saturday night. A very keen and popular member of the Bowling Club, he was engaged in a match with Mr. E. J. Davis, and during the game complained of indigestion. He was given a glass of soda water by Mr. Bert Crammond but he gradually got worse, and was taken to Dr. Whitney's surgery, where his life gave out. Deceased had been in charge of the railyard station for some years, and was one of those public servants who believed in giving service to the public. He was most courteous, obliging, attentive and efficient, often went out of his way to do people doing business with the railway a good turn, and was a very likeable personality. Consequently he earned the kindest thoughts, respect and esteem of everyone, and genuine expressions of regret were voiced on all sides at his untimely demise. We join with his legion of friends in extending deepest sympathy with Mrs. Kurtz and her two sons in the sad occurrence. The remains were conveyed to Mudgee for interment. The late Mr. Kurtz was well and favourably known locally, having at one time been in charge of the local railway station in a relieving capacity. - "Berrigan Advocate".
