RYLSTONE, Tuesday. - A very old and respected resident of Dungaree, named Antonio Wessell, committed suicide by. taking strychnine on Sunday. The deceased was a colonist of forty seven years' standing, and at the time of his death was 78 years of age. Some considerable time past the deceased had been failing in health, and this is thought to have preyed on his mind, causing him to commit the rash act. An inquest was held, yesterday before Mr. W. Taylor, J.P., the local coroner, and, after the evidence had been taken, the jury returned a verdict that the deceased had come by his death through poison, self administered (Evening News, Tuesday 16 February 1897, p. 6). The deceased, who was aged 35, was married 12 months ago, and prior to her marriage conducted the Glen Alice post office for many years. After marriage she resided at Glen Davis. The funeral took place to the Glen Alice cemetery on Sunday last, the last sad rites being performed by Archdeacon Bromhead. To the sorrowing husband and relatives we extend our sympathy.
