DEATH. The death took place on Friday last of Mrs. Susana Menchin at her residence, Inglis-street, Mudgee, at the age of 73 years. Mrs. Menchin was an old resident of the district, and for years was on a farm at Bombira Hill, Mudgee, with her late husband, Mr. Isaac Menchin. The funeral took place on Saturday. Obituary

MR. GEORGE ORAM. It will be learnt with great regret that Mr. George Oram, father of Alderman G. F. Oram, of the Cudgegong Council, died this morning. Mr. Oram, a thoroughly honest and straightforward man, was one of the most highly respected residents of the town, and his death will be greatly felt by a large circle of friends and admirers. Mr. Oram, who had attained the ripe age of 76 years, had been ill for some 12 months with a general break up of the system, and his end was not unexpected. He was a native of Somersetshire, England, and came to Australia when about 18 years of age. He was for some three or four years engaged carting with bullocks over the Blue Mountains and in the Orange district. Later on he took up land at Cooyal, where he resided for many years. Between 14 and 15 years ago Mr. Oram bought a farm at Lawson's Creek from Mr. Rowe, and about five years ago he retired from the farm and took up his residence in Mudgee. He thenceforward lived in town up to the time of his death. Mr. Oram was twice married. His first wife died while he was at Cooyal, and shortly after settling at Lawson's Creek he married a second time. His second wife, who survives him, was the widow of Mr. James Norris, of Lawson's Creek. There are no children of the second marriage, but the following children of the first marriage survive:- Mr. G. F Oram (Mudgee), and Mesdames F. Wallace (Queensland), A. Moon (Tamworth), Monty Gresti (Sydney), G. Menchin (Sydney), and W. Branscombe (Mudgee). The funeral will take place to-morrow afternoon at half-past two. LOCAL AND GENERAL NEWS DEATH FROM GAS. - A note, "Beware of gas," was pinned to the kitchen door of the home of Mrs. Menchin, in Kennedy-road, Belmore this week, when she and her daughter returned home. The mother opened the door, and found her son, Harold Oram Menchin, aged 29, mechanic, lying on the floor with his head in the oven. The room was filled with gas, and had apparently been turned on for an hour or two. Deceased, was well-known to quite a number of people in this district, where he has several relatives. DEATHS Mr. G. C. Menchin LAST month the death occurred of Mr. George C. Menchin, aged 75 years and a native of Mudgee, where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Menchin, sen, conducted a farm. Surviving brothers include Mr. William Menchin (Gulgong) and Mr. Frederick Menchin (Lithgow) - Mrs. J. N. Spears (Gulgong) is a sister. Our sympathy is extended.
