Note: Death of Mrs. Adam Roth, sen.

Death of Mrs. Adam Roth, sen. Another old resident in the person of Mrs. Adam Roth, sen., passed away early this morning at her residence, Eurunderee, at the ripe age of 78 years. Mrs. Roth was a native of Germany, and for the past 48 years has resided in the State, practically the whole of that period having been spent at Eurunderee, where, many years ago, her husband, who predeceased her by some years, founded the famous Eurunderee vineyard and orchard. This splendid property still remains a monument to the industry and energy of the old folk now lying at rest. For some weeks past the deceased lady has been in failing health, and it was generally known that the end was at hand, so that when she succumbed at dawn this morning beneath her great burden of years the shock to her sorrowing family was not so keenly felt as it might have been had her end been unexpected. She leaves a family of six sons and one daughter, all of whom are married, and a number of grandchildren to mourn their loss, and to these our sympathy is extended. The funeral will leave Eurunderee to-morrow for the Mudgee cemetery. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 15 November 1906, p. 12. Katherine Roth Obituary

Wedding at Gulgong SMITH - ROTH. A wedding of more than ordinary local interest was solemnised at St. John's Church of England, Mudgee, on Wednesday, September 2, when Ivy Amelia Katherine, second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Roth, of "Raymont," Wilbetree, was united to Clive W. J. Smith, eldest son of the late Mr. Edward and Mrs. Smith, '"Kensville," Ashfield, the Rev. Canon Parr officiating. The bride, who entered the church on her father's arm, by whom she was given away, was charmingly attired in a gown of ivory cashmere do soie, trimmed with radium lace and orange blossoms. The silk ninon train which fell from the shoulders, was held in place with posies of pale pink georgette. Her embroidered tulle veil was worn mob cap fashion, and encircled by a wreath of orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of carnations and iceland poppies, which with a diamond brooch, were gifts of the bridegroom. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a pair of gold sleeve links. Miss Doris Roth, sister of the bride, made a winning bridesmaid being gowned in powder blue cashmere de soie, trimmed with silver lace and posy with blue and silver hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and freesias, and wore a gold armlet, the gifts of the bride-groom. Little Miss Evie Roth, niece of the bride, acted as train bearer, and looked very pretty in a pink satin frock trimmed with lace and pink hat to harmonise. She also wore a gold armlet, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. F. D. Smith, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the ceremony the bridal party adjourned to "Raymont," where the reception was held. The wedding breakfast was served in the spacious hall adjoining the premises, which was tastefully decorated with pink and blue streamers by Mrs. Beauchamp and Mrs. Neubeck, sister of the bride. After the usual toasts had been honored, the happy couple, whose future home will be at Canadian, left by the evening's train for Sydney, where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride's travelling dress was grev crepe de chene, with vieux rose trimmings and hat to match. The bride was the recipient of numerous costly and useful presents, including several cheques. DEATH Mr. L. Roth Mr. Louis Roth, of Gullamara, one of the oldest residents of the district, died in the Mudgee Hospital on Monday last at the advanced age of 85 years. A member of a sturdy pioneering family, deceased established a splendid orchard and vineyard at Gullamara, very many years ago, and also entered extensively into the wine-making business. Industrious to a degree, he gradually acquired other valuable property, and added grazing to his many activities. In this, too, he was successful, and his sheep ranged over wide acres. Altogether the late Louis Roth was a man of sterling character, and the district will be the poorer for his passing. He is survived by the following sons and daughters, to whom deep sympathy is extended: Ray, Carl, Wilfred, Mesdames Neubeck ('Wang), Smith (Ashfield), and B. Hardy (Mudgee). The funeral took place on Tuesday after an impressive service in St. John's Church by the Rev. Canon Powell, who also officiated at the graveside. Messrs J. C. Swords and Son conducted the arrangements. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 10 November 1949, p. 12. Louis Roth Obituary
