DEATH

Mr. J. M. Murray THE death of Mr. Joseph M. Murray on Monday, 19th August, at the ripe old age of 72 years, removes another old identity of the district. Born in Scotland, Mr. Murray came to Australia at the age of four years with his parents, who settled for a time in Queensland. Mr. Murray learned the profession of engineering at Cairns and followed that profession for some time, coming to the Mudgee district about 50 years ago. For many years Mr. Murray managed various butter factories throughout the district. He married Miss Dick, of Tabra Bucca, near Rylstone. He eventually settled on the land at Tabra Bucca, where he resided for 31 years, finally retiring and living at Carwell, near Rylstone. Mr. Murray leaves a widow and 5 sons to mourn. Thomas, the eldest, resides at Richmond, Joseph resides at Carwell and his twin brother Percy at Clandulla, Daniel at Kandos and James at Avisford, near Mudgee. The funeral was held on Tuesday, and the burial was in the Church of England portion of the Cudgegong cemetery, where the Rev. E. H. Pitcher, of Rylstone preached a very impressive service. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr J. B. Simpkins, of Kandos. Mudgee Guardian, Monday 26 August 1935, p. 8. Joseph Murray Obituary
