At St. Columba's C.E., Cassillis, on Wednesday last, a very pretty wedding was celebrated by the Rev. B. C. Wilson, the contracting parties being Mr. Thomas William Piper, fourth son of Mr. G. Piper, of Ashfield, and Miss Alice Mabel Byfield, only daughter of the late Mr. Samuel Byfield and Mrs. Byfield, of Cassilis. The church was crowded with friends of the bride and bridegroom. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Robert Byfield, looked charming in a gown of white silk striped voile, with white hat trimmed with lovely white feathers. She also wore a gold bamboo bangle, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a superb bouquet of white roses, chrysanthemums, and asparagus ferns. Miss Verlie Piper, cousin of the bridegroom, made a charming bridesmaid, and was attired in pale blue marquisette, with pretty black hat. She also wore a Nellie Stewart gold bangle (gift of the bridegroom) and carried a bouquet of pink roses and ferns. As the bride entered the sacred edifice the organist (Miss C. Smith) played "The Voice That Breathed O'er Eden," while the "Wedding March" pealed forth as the happy couple left the church. At the conclusion of the ceremony the wedding party, went per Mrs. Anderson’s motor car to the residence of the bride's mother, where friends of the happy couple extended felicitations. After Mr. and Mrs. Piper motored to Mudgee and were entertained at Armstrong's Imperial Hotel. Mr. J. M. Head gave the toast of the "Bride and Bridegroom," which was enthusiastically honored in magnums of champagne. Mr. Piper responded in a happy speech. The happy couple left by the evening train for Sydney, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride's travelling dress was a grey coat and skirt, with black velvet hat trimmed with shaded feathers. Many handsome, and useful presents were received. To the happy couple we extend our hearty good wishes. Mudgee Guardian, Monday 25 May 1914, p. 4. Piper Byfield Wedding WEDDINGS.
