WILLIAMS - AKEHURST. A pretty wedding was solemnised on June 8, at St. Cuthbert's Church of England, Naremburn, by the Rev. L. A. Pearse. The contracting parties were Charles Frederick Williams, of Granville, late of Newcastle, and Florence Maud, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Akehurst, of North Sydney, formerly of Mudgee. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore dainty ivory crepe de chene and georgette, and carried a shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were Miss Phil Johnson, of Homebush, and Miss Thursa Akehurst, niece of the bride. They were gowned in cream silk frocks, and also wore a gold brooch and cable bangle, and carried pink bouquets, gifts of the bridegroom. Mr. H. Akehurst, of Mudgee, brother of the bride, carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony the party adjourned to the residence of the bride's parents where the wedding breakfast was partaken of, and the usual toasts were honored. Later Mr. and Mrs. Williams left on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in navy tailored costume, with blue panne velvet, hat and set of furs. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 20 June 1918, p. 15.
