PASSED ON

Very sad was the passing of Mr. D. O'Malley, of Borambil, which took place at the Daphne Bowman Hospital at 7 p.m. on Monday, 29th September, after only a few days in hospital. The late Mr. O'Malley was 83 years of age, and, though he was not born in Borambil, he spent all his life in the surrounding district. Through his unassuming manner he had made a great many friends, and proved himself a very loving husband and father. This fine old gentleman has passed on to a reward he richly deserves, and our sympathy is extended to those of his family who are left to mourn. The funeral service was conducted at St. Joseph's by Rev. Father Moylan, who also officiated at the graveside. Many beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave by those present. Deceased leaves a widow, one son (Mr. John C. O'Malley, Cassilis), and six daughters - Eileen (Mrs. McDonald, Tamworth), Maude (Mrs. C. Lovegrove, Cassilis), Lily (Mrs. J. O'Brien, Cobar), Daphne (Mrs. R. O'Brien, Cobar), Misses Grace and Rita, of Cassilis. Mrs. T. P. Lennox and Mrs. W. Rawlinson, of Borambil, are sisters-in-law. Note: SAD PASSING

SAD PASSING

A gloom was cast over the town on Wednesday morning last, 2nd December, when it was known that Mrs. D. O'Malley had passed away. She seemed to be in the best of health the evening before, but took a bad turn on Wednesday morning about 4 o'clock, and died about 6.45 a.m. at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. Lovegrove. She was one of the most likeable old ladies, and will be greatly mourned by her family and a large circle of relatives and friends. Most sad for the family is the fact that their father, Mr. D. O'Malley, died only six weeks ago at the age of 83. Mrs. O'Malley was 70. She is survived by Mrs. C. Lovegrove, Mrs. D. O'Brien (Cobar), Mrs. J. McDonald (Tamworth), Mrs. R. O'Brien (Cobar), Misses Rita and Grace (Cassilis), and one son. Mr. John O'Malley. Mrs. T. Lennox (Borambil), Mrs. S. Bull (Maitland) and Mrs. D. Matthews (Gunnedah) are sisters, and Mrs. W. Rawlinson (Borambil) a step-sister. The funeral, which took place from St. Joseph's Church, was conducted by the Rev. Father Moylan. Many beautiful wreaths were in evidence. To the bereaved family we extend our sincere sympathy. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 10 December 1942, p. 7. Elizabeth O’Malley Obituary
