JEREMIAH KEOGH. The death occurred at his home, Penrith, a few days ago, of Mr. Jeremiah Keogh, formerly of Mudgee and Gulgong. Deceased was a native of Mudgee, and was born in Church-street. His father, the late Mr. Patrick Keogh, was a hotelkeeper in Mudgee, and one of the first aldermen of the Mudgee Municipality. The deceased was a brother of Mr. Thomas Keogh, of Lue, and Mr. Stephen Keogh, formerly of Lue, and now of Sydney. The deceased is survived by a widow and five children. Everybody who knew the late Mr. Jeremiah Keogh esteemed him. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 18 August 1921, p. 10. Jeremiah Keogh Obituary

Late Mr Jeremiah Keogh.

A correspondent writes: - The late Mr. Jeremiah Keogh was aged 66 years. He was a son of the late Mr. Thomas Keogh and Mrs. Keogh, of Lue, and was a native of Mudgee district. He pioneered in that district many years, and owned several properties near Gulgong. One of his first fine pastoral properties, "The Highlands," he sold to Mr. Abernethy, surveyor, who still owns it. Mr. Keogh went to the Inverell district after being hard hit by drought and other adversities. There he experienced little better luck. He owned property between Moree and Inverell, also at Inverell. Two years ago Mr. Keogh went to Penrith. Despondency because of failure seemed to undermine his health. He had been ill for eleven months prior to his death, but no alarming symptoms developed till he collapsed at his home and gradually sank till Sunday, August 7, when he passed away in the presence of his wife and five daughters. His brothers Tom and Steve were present at the graveside. Mr. Keogh lived a life of probity and piety. He was a thoroughly honest, upright man, hardworking, but hit hard by adversity after being in a prosperous position. He was a subscriber to the "Guardian", for the last 32 years. Note: Mrs Mary Keogh

Mrs Mary Keogh

On June 25 Mrs. Mary Keogh passed to her eternal reward. She was the relict of the late J. M. Keogh, a pastoralist of "The Highlands," Gulgong, and later, of Inverell, who predeceased her by ten years. For a long time Mrs. Keogh had been in ill-health, but she bore her suffering with unsurpassed patience and fortitude, and never allowed her infirmity to interfere with a sunny and happy disposition. Abounding in charity, no needy one was ever turned from her door. Her happy and holy death was a fitting ending to a wonderful preparation under the ministrations of the Sacred Heart Fathers of Randwick. She leaves five daughters, viz., Misses Mary, Claire, Dorothy, Kath, (Mrs. D. Scanlan), and Emily (Mrs. J. Costelloe). Mudgee Guardian, Monday 24 July 1933, p. 8. Mary Keogh Obituary
