Mr. and Mrs. David Leighton, of "Yetman" Bylong, and of Denison Street, Mudgee, have received the sad intelligence of the death from wounds, on July 11, of their son, Corporal Allan David Leighton, of the 1st Batallion. Corporal Leighton has been at the front for some time, while another son is also in the firing line. Leighton, Denison-street, Mudgee, yesterday afternoon of Catherine Mead, of Bylong, aged 81 years. The deceased had been spending a holiday with her daughter, and took bad on Friday last. She was a very old and highly respected resident of Bylong, where she had resided for a great number of years. She is survived by the following children : - Mesdames D. Leighton (Mudgee), W. Fitzpatrick (Sydney), T. Delforce (Merriwa), Chiddy (Bylong), Misses Alice (Sydney), Effie (Bylong), Ada (Bylong) and Messrs. John (Bow Forest, Merriwa), Elijah (Bylong) and William (Bylong). The remains were taken to Bylong per car this morning, and were interred in the Bylong Cemetery this afternoon. Mr. H.
