Another Hero Gone.

CORPORAL ALLAN DAVID LEIGHTON.

Mr. and Mrs. David Leighton, of "Yetman" Bylong, and of Denison Street, Mudgee, have received the sad intelligence of the death from wounds, on July 11, of their son, Corporal Allan David Leighton, of the 1st Batallion. Corporal Leighton has been at the front for some time, while another son is also in the firing line. MR. and MRS. LEIGHTON and family wish to return thanks to all kind friends for their expressions of sympathy by letters, cards, and otherwise, in their recent sad bereavement in the loss of their soldier son and brother, Corporal Allan.

Death. CATHERINE MEAD. The death occurred at her daughter's residence, Mrs. D. Leighton, Denison-street, Mudgee, yesterday afternoon of Catherine Mead, of Bylong, aged 81 years. The deceased had been spending a holiday with her daughter, and took bad on Friday last. She was a very old and highly respected resident of Bylong, where she had resided for a great number of years. She is survived by the following children : - Mesdames D. Leighton (Mudgee), W. Fitzpatrick (Sydney), T. Delforce (Merriwa), Chiddy (Bylong), Misses Alice (Sydney), Effie (Bylong), Ada (Bylong) and Messrs. John (Bow Forest, Merriwa), Elijah (Bylong) and William (Bylong). The remains were taken to Bylong per car this morning, and were interred in the Bylong Cemetery this afternoon. Mr. H. Barton had charge of the funeral arrangements (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 27 May 1920, p. 20).

Obituary Osmond John Leighton The death occurred in the Concord Repatriation Hospital on February 26 of Mr. Osmond John Leighton aged 75. He was a former grazier, of Bylong. He is late of 54 Lewis Street, Mudgee. He is survived by his wife Rubina and children Allan, Glendon, James and Maxwell. His funeral left St. John's Church of England yesterday at 3 p.m. for interment in the Church of England portion of the Mudgee Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Eastaugh and Carroll.
