WEDDING - Pitt-Finlay ST. Philips' Presbyterian Church, Campsie, was prettily decorated , with pink stocks, white heather and arum lilies on Saturday, July 11, for the marriage of Eileen DoRothy, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Finlay, of Campsie, and Claude Connell, only son of Mrs and the late Mr Austin Pitt, of Campsie, formerly of Mudgee and Rylstone. The bride, wearing a gown of ivory satin, with shirred train, and a beautiful Brussels net veil, falling from a halo of orange blossoms and carrying a bouquet of stocks, sweet peas and hyacinths, entered the church on the arm of her father. The bridesmaid, Miss Clarice Pitt, sister of the bridegroom, chose for her frock powder blue metalasse with halo hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas, carnations and blue hyacinths. Miss Valmia Minnis, niece of the bride, acted as flower girl, looking very sweet in pink crepe de chene, with headdress of pink tulle and carried a basket of sweet peas and carnations. Mr Duncan Lachlan Banks, cousin of the bridegroom, attended as best man. The Rev. W. Torrence, B.A., of Lidcombe, an old friend of both families, officiated at the ceremony, which was witnessed by a large number of relatives and friends. During the signing of the register, Mr E. Gunter rendered the song, 'Nivana.' The reception was held in St. John's hall, Campsie, where the sixty guests were received by the mothers of the bride and groom. Mrs Finlay was attired in navy wool de chene with hat to tone, carrying a posy of pink sweet peas, whilst Mrs Pitt was attired in a navy costume matching hat and posy in autumn tints. The honeymoon is being spent at Katoomba. The bride travelled in a navy costume, coat to match. The happy couple were the recipients of numerous and costly presents, including a number of cheques (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 30 July 1936, p. 9).
