Death of a sister | Hannah Chadwick 26 September 1943 (aged 41 years) Hannah Herbert The sudden passing of Hannah Herbert on Sunday afternoon in the District Hospital cast a gloom over the town. Deceased, who was 53 years of age, was a loving wife and mother. On Saturday afternoon she was in the garden assisting her husband and seemed to be in great spirit, but later in the day she took a stroke and was rushed to the District Hospital, but never regained consciousness. The late Mrs. Herbert was a lady who lived for her husband and children. She never left her home much, but was well satisfied to know that all was well with her family. The esteem in which this dear soul was held was evinced by the large number of mourners who followed the cortege to the Ilford Cemetery on Tuesday. After a service in the Kandos Church of England, conducted by Rev. E. Hawkey, the wreath-laden casket was taken to its last resting place. The last sad rites at the graveside were performed by Rev. E. Hawkey. To the sorrowing husband, three daughters and two sons we extend our heartfelt sympathy. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 30 September 1943, p. 7. Obituary Hannah Herbert |
