Death of an Ilford Resident. There died at Mudgee a few days ago Mrs. A. Leader, of Ilford. Deceased who was 54 years of age, was a daughter of the late Mr. Abel Harris. The late Mrs. Leader had been suffering for a considerable time from an internal tumerous growth, and it was this that was the cause of death. The deceased lady was a sister of Mr. T. A. Mr. Alfred Leader THE death occurred at his late residence. 'The Retreat.' Ilford, on Thursday last, 30th January, of Mr. Alfred Leader, in his 87th year. The late Mr. Leader was a pioneer of the Rylstone and Ilford districts, which he knew well In the bushranging days. He was born at Rylstone in 1854, and farmed and grazed at 'The Retreat,' Ilford, where his father originally settled. He was one of the earliest advocates of the efficacy of the dry farming system. In his youth he frequently crossed the Blue Mountains when the road was an unformed bush track and, at 14, drove a two-horse dray over the mountains to Sydney before the present road and rail way were constructed. Deceased is survived by three sons, viz., Robert, Percy and Edwin, and two daughters, Alice (Mrs. Howard) and Nellie (Mrs. Jaques). Ilford Pioneer Family Obituary Mr. Thomas Edwin Leader The death occurred of Mr. Thomas Edwin Leader (Ted) of 'Eastview', Ilford, at Rylstone District Hospital on August 23, 1976, aged 87 years. He was the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Leader, pioneers of the Ilford district. Mr. Leader lived 51 years of his life at Ilford working as a farmer. He was a very active man and was able to cultivate his garden to within a few days of his death. He loved to work for his Church. His grandparents were among the founders of the local Ilford Methodist Church. After a comforting service conducted by Mr. J. W. Dummett in the Rylstone Methodist Church, Mr. Leader was laid to rest in the Rylstone Cemetery. He is survived by one daughter Valerie and son-in-law Gordon Taylor, three grandchildren Mr. Dexter Taylor, Gulgong, Lola, Mrs. Kevin Pearce, Ilford, and Mr. Douglas Taylor, Hornsby Heights; Great-grandchildren, Dianne, Darryl and Lloyd Pearce, Rodney and Amanda Taylor, Dean and Grant Taylor, also one ber Percy and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Jacques, both of Sydney.
