There passed away at Rylstone on June 15, an old and respected resident of that district in the person of Mrs Caroline Sheridan, wife of the late Michael Sheridan, at the age of 70 years. Messrs. John Sheridan (Drill Creek) and Henry Sheridan (Spicers Creek) are sons of the deceased. The remains were interred in the R.C. portion of the Rylstone General Cemetery on the following day, the Rev. Father Corbett, of Sofala, officiating at the grave side (Wellington Times, Monday 1 July 1918, page 2).

Note: Death of Mrs. M. Sheridan.

Death of Mrs. M. Sheridan. Death has laid its harrowing hand heavily on the district residents within the last few months, the latest to pass away being Mrs. M. Sheridan, of Glen Lee, Narrango. The deceased lady had been in indifferent health for some time, and about ten days before death a severe form of influenza attacked her, which she was unable to shake off, and being of an advanced age she weakened very quickly. The family were called to the bedside, and despite all that medical care and nursing could do, Mrs. Sheridan succumbed to the attack and passed away at 8 o'clock on Wednesday morning. The deceased outlived her late husband by a number of years. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Dewey, of Growee, and a sister of Messrs. H. and G. Dewey, of that place. She and the late Mr. M. Sheridan settled at Glen Lee about 30 years ago, where they, by frugality and hard work created a comfortable home stead which has enabled them to leave to their children a comfortable competency. The late Mrs. Sheridan is survived by seven children, two daughters and five sons. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon, the cortege moving from Glen Lee at half-past one. A long procession of relatives and friends followed the remains to their last resting place, the last sad rites being performed by Father Corbett, the parish priest (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 20 June 1918, page 25).

Note: MR. JAMES MICHAEL SHERIDAN.

MR. JAMES MICHAEL SHERIDAN. Mr. James Michael Sheridan died at the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Sheridan, 'Glen Lee,' Rylstone, on the 1st inst. Deceased helped his father carry on grazing pursuits at 'Glen Lee' until the last six months, when ill-health impaired his services. Jim Sheridan was 21 years of age and was one of the finest type of men in the Rylstone and Mudgee districts, being over six feet in height, and possessed of outstanding qualities. He was a keen lover of sport. He joined the Holy Name Society when it was founded, and regularly attended its meetings. During his illness he was attended by Rev. Fathers Ring and Dahill. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Malachy's Church, Rylstone, and the funeral, which was one of the largest ever seen in Rylstone, moved from the church for the Rylstone General Cemetery on the 2nd inst. Rev. Father Ring, assisted by Rev. Father Dahill, officiated at the graveside. Besides his sorrowing parents, he is survived by four sisters, Cecilia, Agnes, Mary and Doreen, and one ber, Brinsley. - R.I.P. (Catholic Press, Thursday 29 August 1940, page 23).

Note: OBITUARY

OBITUARY James Michael Sheridan The residents of Rylstone and district were shocked and genuinely grieved when it was learned that James Michael Sheridan had passed away at the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Sheridan, "Glen Lee," Rylstone, on Thursday, 1st August. The deceased, who had not enjoyed the best of health for the past two years, helped his father carry on grazing pursuits at "Glen Lee" until the last six months, when ill-health impaired his willing services. Although all the best medical advisers were sought in the country and city, their efforts proved of no avail, and, after much suffering, deceased passed away, as above stated. "Jim," as he was known to his host of friends, was 21 years of age, and was one of the finest type of men in the Rylstone and Mudgee districts, being over six feet in height and possessed of those outstanding qualities which marked him as one of the best. From his earliest days he was noted for a bright, friendly disposition that endeared him to all with whom he came in contact. He was a keen follower of all sport, and was never happier than when he watched his fancy roll home on the local race-courses. It is sad, indeed, to think that such a fine young man on the threshold of life, has gone from the midst of us. During his short life he was always faithful to the duty of his holy religion, and was a valued member or the Holy Name Society, Kandos, since its inauguration. A few weeks prior to his death, deceased was frequently visited by Rev. Fathers Ring and Dahill. The morning following his death, Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Malachy's Church, Rylstone, for the repose of his soul. The funeral, which was one of the largest ever seen in Rylstone moved from the Catholic Church for the Rylstone General Cemetery on the 2nd instant. Rev. Father Ring assisted by Rev. Father Dahill, officiated at the graveside. Besides his sorrowing parents, there are four sisters, Cecilia, Agnes, Mary and Doreen, and one ber, Brinsley to mourn. To the bereaved family we extend our deepest sympathy (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 15 August 1940, page 8).

Death 5 May 1945 (aged 31 years)

Rylstone And Kandos News Obituary Mrs. Cecilia Rose Aubrey With profound regret came news of the death of Mrs. Cecilia Rose Aubrey, which took place in the Rylstone District Hospital on Saturday morning, May 5 at the early age of 30 years. Mrs. Aubrey was in the toils of a distressing illness, but only a few days previously had shown a slight improvement and hopes ran high that she would be home in a short time. However, a relapse occurred, and despite the skilful care of doctors, who fought valiantly for her life by the hour, deceased passed away as above stated. Mrs. Aubrey was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Sheridan, and spent most of her time at "Glen Lee" after school days at St. Matthew's College, Mudgee, until her marriage to Mr. W. T. Aubrey only three years ago last April. Their home in Glen Davis permeated in peace and contentment and the joys of married life blossomed to perfection when a son arrived nearly two years ago. Tragic indeed it is to think this fervent Catholic young woman - a model wife to her husband and a sympathetic and understanding mother whose joy was in training her baby son - has passed from our midst. Truly the "brightest jewel" has been stolen from the home! During her illness the late Mrs. Aubrey, who was ever faithful to the duties of her religion, was attended by the Rev. Father Kenefick, of Kandos, who also administered the last sacraments. Holy Mass was celebrated in St. Dominic's Church, Kandos, for the happy repose of her soul on Sunday, 6th inst., and the funeral, one of the largest and saddest, moved for the Catholic portion of the Rylstone General Cemetery at 3 o'clock that afternoon. Many relatives and friends travelled long distances, coming from Coonabarabran, Dunedoo, Coolah, Wellington, Lithgow and Sydney to pay their last respects to such a loved personality. The Rev. Fr. Kenefick officiated at the graveside, where the remains were laid to rest close by the late James Michael Sheridan (ber), who predeceased her by four years. To the heartbroken husband and baby, William James, her parents and the following sisters and ber - Agnes (Bathurst), Mary (Lithgow), Brinsley and Doreen - we extend our deepest sympathy in the sad bereavement.
