Death of a half-brother | James Vincent Nevell 26 July 1937 (aged 87 years) TURILL (From Our Representative) PASSING OF A PIONEER. A VERY sad death occurred on Sunday, July 25th, at Broughton hospital, Mudgee, when Mr. J. V. Nevell, of Elphin, Turill passed away peacefully in his sleep, at the age of 78. He was one of the oldest pioneers of the district. He had a bright, smiling, cheerful disposition and was respected by all. The remains were conveyed to the family private cemetery at Deridgerie for burial. The funeral was attended by a large crowd, many coming long distances to show their last respect. Unfortunately his wife is in hospital in Sydney and was unable to attend the funeral, which made it doubly hard for the children, the eldest being only about 17. So another of the old school was laid to rest, leaving a sorrowing wife and four children (two sons and two daughters) to mourn. Much sympathy is extended to them (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Monday 2 August 1937, page 7). DEATHS Mr. J. V.
