Death of a maternal grandfather | Edward Readford 17 March 1906 (aged 16 years) Death of Mr. E. Readford, Sen. It is with regret we record the death of Mr. E. Readford, sen., which occurred at his residence, West End, on Saturday morning, from heart failure. Deceased, who was 76 years of age, was in the act of sawing a piece of timber, and a momentbefore his death had been talking to his daughter. Miss Readford, who is blind, heard a groan immediately after he had spoken to her, and spoke to him again but got no aNew South Waleser. She then called in several neighbors, who at once found that life wasextinct. Dr. Nickoll was summoned and pronounced death to be due to heart failure. At one time Mr. Readford followed pastoral pursuits both in Queensland and New South Wales, and for many years lived at Warren. During the past twelve months hehas made Mudgee his home. He leaves five daughters - Mesdames R. H. Smith, W. Bardsley, J. Groat and J. Nevell, and Miss Readford, and also and two sons. Two brothers, Mr. James Readford, of Westwood, Ilford, and Mr. William Readford, ofCudgegong, the latter being 84 years of age, survive. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at Carwell cemetery, near Rylstone, where his wife was buried about 30 years ago. Death of a paternal grandmother | Mary Aldridge 3 July 1910 (aged 20 years) Deaths. Mary Nevell. Mrs Mary Nevell, who had been staying with Mrs Hathenley at Boori, St Marys, passed away on Sunday afternoon last, at the ripe old age of 88 year. Deceased was the wife of James Vincent Nevel, of Cardwell, Rylstone, and had been ill for some considerable time. Her daughter, Nurse Nevell, was in constant attendance, and she was also attended first by by Dr Chauncy and afterwards by Dr Bell. The remains were conveyed to the local railway station, and hence by train to Rylstone, where they were interred. Nepean Times, Saturday 9 July 1910, p. 3. Obituary Mary Nevell DEATHS: NEVELL. - On Sunday, July 3, at her residence, Boori, St. Marys, Mary, the beloved wife of James Vincent Nevell, of Carwell, Rylstone. Daily Telegraph, Tuesday 5 July 1910, p. 6. Death notice Mary Nevell THE PASSING OF A DISTRICT PIONEER. There passed away at St. Mary's township last Sunday an old and respected resident of this district in the person of Mrs. Nevell, sen. The deceased lady had, until a short time ago, resided at her pioneer home, Carwell, with her husband and family, but a change was thought advisable and the deceased moved down country, after a life long residence at the old home, where she had seen the ups and downs or many things. She was a typical country woman, full of all the warmth and homeliness that is a heritage to the really genuine bush-woman. Carwell, in her day, was a welcome home and refuge to many a benighted traveller, and be neath its hospitable roof many an old fireside yarn has been spun and hours lulled away into midnight. One would indeed unfold a history if all could he written of Grandfather Nevell and his staunch partner, but we must not infringe. The late Mrs Nevell had to set her sons (John, Arthur and Oscar) and daughters (Mrs. Feridge, Mrs. Ingle, of Sydney, Mrs. Weatherly, of St. Mary's, and Miss Nevell) all successfully launched in life, and that is a satisfaction that was valued very highly by the good old soul, whose mortal remains were brought to Rylstone on Tuesday morning last, and after being received by the Rector, the Rev. Chivers, and the church service being rendered at St. James, were subsequently taken to the family cemetery at Carwell, where the last sad rites were conducted by tlie Rector amid a large and sorrowful assemblage of relatives and friends. Death hath its agony, its sting, and torture, but balm and consolation, must come with the thought that a long and honored life has been ended, and that amidst the struggles of her early life, in the hearts of her surviving relatives, she is at rest. Much sympathy has been extended to the bereaved family in their hour of sad affliction, and I join with the many in my tribute of sorrow to the ones who have lost their friend.
