Death of a sister | Lucy Lloyd 1897 (aged 16 years) Obituary. THE death took place last week, under very sad circumstances of Mrs Nash, wife of Mr George Nash, of Rylstone. Mr Nash's father, who is still resident in Rylstone, is a Hawkesbury native, and is well-known to many Windsor and Richmond folk. The late Mrs Nash, who had only been married about 12 months, was much esteemed by all who knew her (Windsor and Richmond Gazette, Saturday 20 March 1897, page 9). |
Death of a father | John Lloyd 6 May 1910 (aged 29 years) Note: DEATH OF MR. LLOYD, SEN. A well-known district pioneer passed to the great unknown on Friday last, i… DEATH OF MR. LLOYD, SEN. A well-known district pioneer passed to the great unknown on Friday last, in the person of Mr. J. Lloyd, sen. The deceased gentleman is too well known to need any biography here. In life he was a straight, honest as the sun, and in every way a sterling, upright man : his word was his bond, and his honor was a safe-guard against any reproach. John Lloyd, of Coomber, was a household name in the district. The family, 12 in number, I would not be quite sure, have all reached adult stage and are worthy and respected residents. The deceased was an octogenarian and up till a few months ago never knew what ill-health was. But advancing years had at last made themselves felt, and an internal trouble set in, and of such a nature that only an operation could relieve (stone trouble). But the old gentleman refused, preferring to see it out, as he explained it. Up to the last the deceased, though suffering acute pain, kept in good spirits. He paid the last debt of nature on Friday evening, and thus has an honest and highly respected district pioneer gone to his long rest, beloved and reverenced by his family, and mourned by a public with whom he had the closest of friendship. His remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the local cemetery, the Rev. Chivers performing the last sad rites of the Church. A very large concourse followed the hearse - one of the largest ever seen. To the bereaved family, relatives and friends I extend a sincere sympathy in their affliction. Death of a brother | Thomas Henry Lloyd 7 November 1947 (aged 66 years) OBITUARY Thomas Henry Lloyd The district was shocked last Wednesday to learn of the death of Mr. Thomas Lloyd after an illness of only a few days. The deceased who was born at 'Ferndale' in 1883, was one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Kandos having been closely associated with the town from its first beginnings. In 1911 he married Miss Katherine Nicholson of Glen Alice and, 'Ferndale' with its genial host and hostess became a social centre. There are two sons of the marriage - Thomas Colin and Alfred John. From the time of Mrs. Lloyd's death in 1931 he resided with his son and daughter-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Lloyd. until 1944, when he was married to Mrs. Margaret Golding. On Wednesday afternoon his body was taken to St. Lawrence's Church where it lay till the funeral next day, a watch being kept by men of the community during the night hours. At 7.30 a.m. a Requiem was sung and at 10.30 a.m. the church and its surroundings was thronged for the funeral service which was conducted by the Rector of Kandos (Rev. E. E. Hawkey) assisted by the Venerable Archdeacon A. D. Bromhead the Rector of Rylstone who represented the Bishop of the Diocese. After the Introit 'Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord' had been sung the 23rd Psalm was recited the Lesson from the Revelation of St. John being read by the Archdeacon. Then followed the hymn 'Let saints on earth in concert sing with those whose rest is won.' After the singing of 'Abide With Me', the cortege moved from the church to the Rylstone General Cemetery where as many again as those at the church awaited its arrival. The procession to the grave was led by the Parish Cross carried by Mr. P. Banks attended by Masters B. Betts and N. Wade. The committal was made by the Rector and the concluding prayers said by the Archdeacon. The floral tributes were among the most beautiful ever seen here and came from all sections of the community (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 13 November 1947, page 10). |
