Note: DEATH

DEATH Mr A. E. Frost THE death occurred at his home in Denison Street on Tuesday of Mr. Alfred Ernest Frost, aged 73 years. He had been ailing for some nine months. Deceased was a native of the town, being born in the old hotel at west end, which was conducted by his late father, Robert Frost. The building, which was constructed of stone, has since been demolished. He spent practically the whole of his life in Mudgee, and was for a great many years one of the most trusted employees of W. Kellett and Sons. In his younger days he figured prominently in various sporting activities, and his greatest pleasure in a friendly game of cricket. He was a fine comrade on the field, and gained the esteem of all good sportsmen. In his leisure hours he delighted to meet friends in a game of billiards, of which he was a skilful exponent. It was in his home life, however, that he found his greatest happiness. A devoted husband and father, he lived for the family, and his passing will come as a terrible shock to the sorrowing widow, sons and daughters. The deepest sympathy of the whole community will go out to them in their hour of trial. The sons are Hal (Grafton), Ernest R. (Mudgee), Edward (Mudgee), Robert (Rylstone), while the daughters are Mrs. S. G. Robbins (Kandos), Mrs. J. R. Wood (Kogarah), Mrs. W. A. Oakes (Clandulla), and Miss Lela Frost (Mudgee). The funeral took place at the Church of England portion of the Mudgee cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. A. G. Powell officiating at the graveside. The arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. J. C. Swords and Son (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 5 October 1939, page 7).

Note: VALE, ROBERT FROST

VALE, ROBERT FROST (Contributed) In connection with the recent death of Mr. G. R. Frost, further interesting information is disclosed. Deceased, who was a most respected and highly esteemed citizen of the Singleton district, aNew South Walesered the "Last Call" at the Dangar Cottage Hospital just two weeks following the 85th anniversary of his birthday. The late Mr. Frost endeared himself to all who came in contact with him, especially children, with whom he was a great favourite. He was an ideal father and had proved himself a faithful friend to many in less fortunate circumstances than himself. From early manhood he had been closely associated with horses and cattle, especially the former, and before settling at South Wambo, Warkworth, he had travelled extensively in South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland. The deceased gentleman was for 46 years associated with Mr. R. C. Allen, of Sydney, an A.J.C. Committeeman and noted blood stock breeder, being his right hand man and close friend, and with whom he established the stud at Wambo, which has from time to time produced some good gallopers, especially Wedding Day's progeny, Pavilion and others. The late Mr. Frost bred also on his own account in a small way, the best probably being Delmester, and El. Neve, who was very successful in Tasmania. He had a very busy life and his services (gratis) were always at the disposal of many who required his assistance. Sporting bodies and various local associations were readily helped by him. He was always prominent in supporting racing clubs, and did his best in furthering the interests of racing generally, and also the rearing of thoroughbreds. His spare time was devoted to his home and garden, and, being passionately fond of flowers, he found an enthusiastic supporter and willing helper in his wife. Their combined efforts always resulted in a mass of blooms, irrespective of climatic conditions. Until twelve months ago the late Mr. Frost enjoyed good health and his energy and stamina were amazing for a man of his years. His wife had unceasingly attended him during his illness and no doubt his cheerful presence will be sadly missed by her. Four sons also are left to mourn his loss, viz Messrs. Archie (South Wambo), Cecil (Widden), Walter (Singleton), Raleigh (Windsor). The deceased gentleman has one sister living in Sydney, aged 89, and he leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren (Singleton Argus, Wednesday 29 September 1943, page 4).

Note: PASSING OF MR. ROBERT FROST

PASSING OF MR. ROBERT FROST Mr. Robert Frost, an old and highly esteemed resident of the district, passed away in Dangar Hospital yesterday at the advanced age of 85 years. Deceased will be better be remembered for his long association with the blood-stock industry, whilst he was a prominent figure in racing circles. Born at Penrith, the late Mr. Frost made his first acquaintance with the bloodstock industry at the famous Widden stud. In 1903 he came to this district, going in for breeding at Wambo with Mr R. C. Allen. He has spent practically the whole of that 40 years in Singleton district. Of late months, Mr. Frost had not enjoyed the best of health, and he had been frequently a patient in hospital. He was first married to Miss Jane Thompson, who passed away 52 years ago. Of the union there are four sons. He was joined in matrimony for the second time some years after the death of his first wife- In addition to his wife, he is survived by the four sons, viz., Messrs. Walter (Singleton), Raleigh (Windsor), Archie (Wambo), and Cecil (Widden). The remains were laid to rest in the Church of England (Singleton Argus, Monday 30 August 1943, page 2).
