Death of a father | Francis Henry Giles 6 April 1939 (aged 26 years) DEATH Francis Henry Giles BY the death of Mr. Francis Henry Giles, the Crudine district has lost another of its fine old pioneers, and the hearts of the people are sad. Some four months ago deceased lost his life partner, and her passing came as a terrible blow to him. He never fully recovered, and about three weeks ago his condition was such that it was deemed advisable to place him under skilled medical attention in a Mudgee private hospital. There everything was done to afford relief, but he gradually grew worse, and the end came on Thursday last. Deceased was born at Crudine 71 years ago, and during his long and useful life he strove to make this world a better place to live in. His word was his bond, and it was only natural that he gained the affection and esteem of his fellow men. He will be greatly missed and sincerely mourned right throughout the district, and the deepest sympathy will go out to the sorrowing family. The sons are Ernest Henry, Francis Hilton, and Roy Edward, and the daughters Winifred May and Amy Adelaide, all of whom reside at Crudine. The funeral which was attended by many old friends of the family, took place to the Church of England portion of the Ilford cemetery on Saturday, the Rev. Mr. Kircher, of Kandos, officiating at the graveside. Mr. H. Barton conducted the arrangements. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 13 April 1939, p. 3. Obituary Francis Henry Giles |
