WEDDING Spora - Kearins FEW recent weddings in this district have attracted as much interest as that of Miss Mary Kearins, of "Monivae," Lue, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Phillip Kearins, and Mr John F. Spora, of "Black Springs," Mendooran, eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs G. F. Spora, of Chatswood, last Thursday. The, ceremony was performed in the Mudgee Roman Catholic Church by Monsignor Flanagan, who was assisted by Father O'Byrne. The bride's gown was made entirely of a beautiful shade of flesh beige windswept material, and was cut on long, graceful lines. The skirt, fitting perfectly to the knees and then flaring into fullness, was of the new instep length. The bodice had long sleeves effecting a drape at the top of the arm, and the neckline finished with a very unusual cowl which tied high to the neck, the two ends falling to the waist at the back. The tiny hat, in exactly the same shade as the gown, was finished with a tulle veil. The bride carried a bouquet of blue hyacinths. Her travelling gown was a candy woollen metalase tunic ensemble, worn with a stitched taffeta turban in candy and brown. The bridesmaid was Miss Meg Kearins, the bride's sister. Her gown was of hyacinth blue crepe. The skirt, which was instep length, fell into soft flares from below the knees. The bodice had long sleeves and an extended shoulder line, the collar forming a fichu coatee at the back and being fastened with a diamente button. The bridesmaid wore a large black hat with hyacinth blue, appliqued in flowers all over the flat crown. The bouquet of daffodils and apricot violas was tied with black velvet ribbon. The bride's mother wore a black sandarra crepe ensemble. The gown was trimmed with angelskin beige lace, and the coat was of the new seven-eighths length. The hat was stitched black velvet, and a corsage spray of orchids was worn. The best man was Mr Frank Spora, ber of the bridegroom. During the ceremony Gounod's "Ave Maria" and a chosen "O Salutaris" were sung by the bride's aunt, Mrs A. Simonds, of Sydney. Mrs Simonds also sang Summerville's "Ave Maria" while the register was being signed. Mrs P. J. Dykes, of Mudgee, presided at the organ with her usual efficiency. The reception was held at the Hotel Mudgee, about 50 guests, some of whom came from as far away as Sydney, Cowra, Boorowa and Young, being present. The guests were received by Mrs Kearins and the bridegroom's sister, Mrs Trimboli. Mudgee Guardian, Monday 27 August 1934, p. 3. Wedding Spora and Kearins

Note: Mrs. Mary Spora.

Mrs. Mary Spora. The death occurred at Mudgee on the 1st ult., of Mrs. Mary Walsh Spora, at the early age of 32. Born at Templemore, Young, she went to Monivae, Lue, in the Mudgee district, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kearins, when quite young. She received her education at the hands of the Sisters of Mercy, Parramatta. While in Lue, with her parents, she was certainly everything that a Catholic girl ought to be, giving a splendid example of Catholic virtue, and taking an active interest in everything connected with the Church. About two years ago she married Mr. J. T. Spora, of Rylstone, and taking up residence at Mundoran, she endeared herself to everybody by her fine Catholic spirit, her charitable disposition, and her general social qualities. The regret expressed at her death was extraordinarily widespread, friends coming great distances - from Sydney, Young, Burrowa and locally to attend her funeral. Requiem Mass was celebrated for the repose of her soul in St. Mary's Church, by Right Rev. Monsignor E. J. Flanagan, P.P., V.G., Mudgee, on the morning of the 2nd ult. The funeral took place to the Mudgee Cemetery, Monsignor Flanagan, assisted by Rev. Father O'Byrne (Mudgee), and Rev. Father Barrow (Kandos), reciting the last, prayers. She leaves a husband and two infant children to mourn their loss. - R.I.P (Catholic Press, Thursday 29 October 1936, page 29).

Note: SAD DEATH OF YOUNG MENDOORAN LADY

SAD DEATH OF YOUNG MENDOORAN LADY A very sad death took place in a Mudgee private hospital on Tuesday of last week, whereby two little boys, one twelve months and the other eight days were left motherless. We refer to the passing of Mrs. Mary Spora, wife of Mr. Jack Spora, of Black Springs, Mendooran, who fell a victim to that dreaded complaint, pneumonia, following childbirth and this, despite the fact that everything in the way of medical attention and nursing, including the bringing of Dr. Harold Ritchie, a city specialist, to Mudgee, was done. Deceased was 32 years of age, and had been married only about two years. Before her marriage she was a popular young Lue lady, being the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Kearins, of Monivae StationMrs. Mary Spora. Ail indication of the popularity of deceased was given on Wednesday, when the major portion of Lue residents - people amongst whom she had lived, and, therefore were in a position to best judge her - went to Mudgee, a distance of nearly 20 miles, in order to pay their respects to one they had learned to esteem. This was also evidenced by Mendooran friends. Although a terrible loss, one of the greatest blows possible to sustain, it must, in some small way be a comfort to the bereaved husband and the rest of her family to realise that the departed lady was mourned by all who knew her best - the people amongst whom she had lived. Besides the sorrowing husband, two children and parents, deceased is survived by three sisters: the Misses Kitty, Meg and Hannah (all of Monivae) - - and two brothers - Messrs Thomas (Bingham, Lue) and Patrick (Monivae). The remains were taken to St. Mary's R. C. Church, where Rev. Father O'Byrne held a service, after which the funeral took place to Mudgee general cemetery, where Monsignor Flanagan, Father 0'Byrne and Father Barrow (Kandos) were in attendance (Gilgandra Weekly and Castlereagh, Thursday 10 September 1936, page 2).
