However, the funeral was very largely attended, proving how much Mrs. Bevitt was esteemed by the people of the district. The passing away of Mrs. Bevitt cast a gloom over the district. Mrs. Bevitt died early on Saturday morning at her son's (Mr. Joseph Bevitt's) residence at Rawden, where she had lived for over 27 years. She had been failing for five long months, and was nursed by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joseph Bevitt (nee Miss Ellen Dykes). The deceased lady was 70 years of age, and was the widow of the late Mr. Joseph Thomas Bevitt, of Penrith. Her husband predeceased her by about 28 years. She leaves a grown-up family of two sons and five daughters, viz.: Messrs. Joseph and Herbert Bevitt, Rawden; Mrs. Miskle, Pinnacle Swamp, Rylstone; Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Freeburn, Penrith ; Mrs. W. Bayliss, Rawden; Mrs. G. Honeysett, Rylstone; one ber, John Bartlett, North Sydney ; and one sister, Mrs. G. Fleetwood, North Sydney; besides a number of grandchildren and great-grand-children. At the time of her death all her family was at her bedside. The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Rylstone General Cemetery. The Rev. W. V. Thomson officiated at the graveside. Mr. I. Ferguson had charge of the funeral arrangements (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 27 November 1919, page 9). |
Death of a sister | Margaret Jane Bevitt 6 November 1924 (aged 49 years) Obituary DEATH OF MRS. P. MISKLE. The sudden death of Mrs. P. Miskle, took place at her residence, Pinnacle, on November 6. The deceased, who had been under the doctor's treatment, was bright and cheerful on the night preceding her demise. In the morning, however as she did not rise at the usual hour, her sons went to her room and found that she was dead. Death was due to heart failure, the deceased having apparently died in her sleep. The remains were interred in the Catholic portion of the Rylstone General Cemetery, the funeral being very largely attended. The Rev. Father Corbett officiated. The husband, three sons and two daughters survive. Mrs. G. Mills (St. Mary's), Mrs C. Freeburn (Mulgoa), Mrs. W. Bayliss (Rawdon), Mrs. Honeysett (Rylstone), were sisters of the late Mrs. Miskle, while two bers namely Messrs. Joseph (Brymair), and Herbert Bevitt (Rylstone) also survive. The deepest sympathy is expressed for the bereaved relatives. Mudgee Guardian, Thursday 20 November 1924, p. 21. Obituary Margaret Miskle |
