Note: DEATH OF MRS. JAMES BROWN.

DEATH OF MRS. JAMES BROWN. (From our Rylstone Correspondent.) It is with deep regret that I record the death of Mrs. James Brown, widow of the late James Brown, of Rylstone, which took place at her residence, Mudgee-street, Rylstone, on Sunday night last. The deceased lady was 81 years of age, a native of Sydney, having been born in O'Connell-street in the year 1818. She was a daughter of the late Thos. Bloodworth, of Sydney. The deceased leaves a grownup family of two sons and two daughters namely, Messrs. W. L. Brown (Mount Brace); A. A. Brown (Belbowery), Mrs. G. Howe (Rylstone), and Mrs. I. Cousens (Nulty. Bourke). The old lady was possessed of a wonderful memory and excellent eyesight, July 18, 1902 (Sydney Stock and Station Journal, Friday 25 July 1902, page 3).

Note: OBITUARY

OBITUARY ONE of Rylstone's oldest identities, Mrs. G. E. Brown, passed away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs A. V. Riches, Cox street, on Friday, aged 84 years and 5 months, and thus yet another of the stalwart pioneers of the district has passed on. Deceased, who was formerly a Miss Robbins, came to this district as a child from Penrith, where the family was very well known and respected, and spent the largest portion of her long life in and around Rylstone. Three daughters, Mesdames A. V. Riches and Jas. Honeysett, Jnr. (Rylstone), and Mrs Milton (Como), are left to mourn the loss of their mother, and to these and Mrs E. Sampson (Rylstone), Charles Robbins (Kandos), and James Robbins (Dunedoo), sister and bers of deceased, we extend our sincere sympathy. Six grandchildren and five great-grand-children likewise still survive, and one of Mrs Riches' treasured possessions was a photograph of the four generations, mother, daughter, granddaughter and great-grand-daughter. The remains were lain to rest in the C. of E. portion of the Rylstone cemetery on Saturday, November 9. The Rev. F. H. Pitcher, Rector of St. James' officiating, and the number of floral tributes placed on the casket bore witness to the esteem in which the deceased and members of the family are held throughout the district (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 14 November 1935, page 3).
