Note: DEATH

DEATH Mr A. E. Frost THE death occurred at his home in Denison Street on Tuesday of Mr. Alfred Ernest Frost, aged 73 years. He had been ailing for some nine months. Deceased was a native of the town, being born in the old hotel at west end, which was conducted by his late father, Robert Frost. The building, which was constructed of stone, has since been demolished. He spent practically the whole of his life in Mudgee, and was for a great many years one of the most trusted employees of W. Kellett and Sons. In his younger days he figured prominently in various sporting activities, and his greatest pleasure in a friendly game of cricket. He was a fine comrade on the field, and gained the esteem of all good sportsmen. In his leisure hours he delighted to meet friends in a game of billiards, of which he was a skilful exponent. It was in his home life, however, that he found his greatest happiness. A devoted husband and father, he lived for the family, and his passing will come as a terrible shock to the sorrowing widow, sons and daughters. The deepest sympathy of the whole community will go out to them in their hour of trial. The sons are Hal (Grafton), Ernest R. (Mudgee), Edward (Mudgee), Robert (Rylstone), while the daughters are Mrs. S. G. Robbins (Kandos), Mrs. J. R. Wood (Kogarah), Mrs. W. A. Oakes (Clandulla), and Miss Lela Frost (Mudgee). The funeral took place at the Church of England portion of the Mudgee cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. A. G. Powell officiating at the graveside. The arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. J. C. Swords and Son (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 5 October 1939, page 7).
