Death. - I regret to report the death of Mrs Clarke, of this town. The deceased had been ailing for a considerable time, and at intervals during her illness she brightened up, but despite all the care and attention that human hands could give she passed away to the Great Beyond on Saturday afternoon. Deceased, who was the mother of Mrs W. Johnston and Mrs Slapp, both of Rylstone, and Mr E. Clarke, was well known and respected in the district. I extend my sincere sympathy to the family in their sad affliction (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 20 June 1907, page 15).

Note: Late Mrs. Abrahams

Late Mrs. Abrahams A Lue Pioneer. In last issue we announced the death of Mrs. S. Abrahams, which occurred at her residence at Lue on Friday last. The late Mrs. Abrahams was a daughter of the late Mr. Joseph Johnstone, who was a native of Dumfries, Scotland, and came to this country in 1880 as a young man, and settled down in Bathurst, his death occurring in 1884 at the age of 72 years. The deceased lady was born in 1845, at Kelso, near Bathurst, and was the first child christened in the Holy Trinity Church at Kelso. She married and settled down at Lue, and reared a family of four daughters and three sons, they being Mrs. Taylor (Ryde), Mrs. Martin (nurse, Sydney), Matron Clarke (Mudgee), Nurse Clarke (Sydney), William and Percy (Lue), and Frank (Rylstone). The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Rylstone cemetery, the Rev. W. J. Dunstan, of Mudgee, officiating at the graveside. To the bereaved husband and family we offer our deepest sympathy (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 11 February 1915, page 23).
