Death at Ilford The death occurred on Thursday last of Mr. George D. Cafe, of Ilford. He had been ailing for several years. His death was sudden, and was a shock to many of his friends. Sometime during the day he called his son to the bedside and told him he did not feel well. He asked for a drink of water and died immediately. Deceased, who was 72 years of age, lived at Ilford nearly all his life (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Monday 2 October 1922, page 10).

Local News, Death of Ilford Resident. - The death took place in the Mudgee Hospital yesterday, Sunday, of a highly respected resident of Ilford in the person of Mr. John Slapp. The late Mr. Slapp has followed farming and dairying pursuits in the Ilford district for the past 30 years, and for some time was maintenance man on a portion of the Sydney Road for the shire council. His wife predeceased him by about five years and the following family are left: Mrs. J. Wetherley, Ilford; Robert, Merrylands; James, Kandos; Mrs. E. Cafe, Warrangunyah; Grace and Phillip, Ilford. The remains were taken to Ilford this morning and interred in the C.E. portion, of the Ilford Cemetery, with those of his late wife. The Rev. PERSONAL A number of Kandos residents have suffered bereavements of late. Included in the number are Mr. Stanley Copelin and Mr. Percy Cafe. Mr. Copelin's father died recently at the age of 72, and Mr. Cafe's mother, Mrs. Rebecca Cafe, passed away at her Ilford home in her 84th year (Lithgow Mercury, Thursday 30 March 1939, page 4).

Born at Bowenfels, deceased had lived in Ilford district for many years and was a well known and respected citizen. Predeceased several years ago by his wife, he leaves to mourn three sons, Ivan and Clive (Ilford) and Athol (Kandos) to whom deepest sympathy is extended. The funeral took place this morning (Thursday) when the remains were interred in the Church of England portion of Ilford cemetery, Messrs. Eastaugh and Carroll having charge of the arrangements.
