Obituary Leonard James Honeysett Leonard James Honeysett (76) died after a long illness at the Rylstone District Hospital on October 22. Mr. Honeysett was late of 53 Ilford Road, Kandos. He was born near Gulgong and was a son of the late William and Dora Honeysett. His early years were spent at Gulgong where he married Gladys Violet Hansell of Tallawang. In 1927 they came to Kandos to live and he started work at Charbon Works. During the War he was transferred to the Kandos Colliery and in later years was the First Aid Attendant until he retired in 1966. In his younger days Mr. Honeysett was a keen sportsman, especially tennis. For many years he looked after and played on “The Park” where six tennis courts existed at one time near the present sports complex. He also was a member of the St. John’s Ambulance First-Aid for 35 years and a lecturer of that Association. He is survived by his wife Gladys, daughters Adele (Mrs. Clive Cafe) and June (Mrs. George Briggs) both of Ilford, and grandchildren, Barry, Peter, Jeff, Greg, Sue, Mark, Denis, Kim, Sanday and Julie-Anne. His funeral took place on October 26 at the Rylstone Cemetery after a Service at St. Laurence’s Anglican Church, Kandos. Mudgee Guardian, Friday 26 November 1982, p. 5. Obituaries Gladys Violet Honeysett Gladys Violet Honeysett, 84, died peacefully in Rylstone District Hospital on December 17, 1987 after a long illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard, in 1982. Mrs. Honeysett was late of 53 Ilford Road, Kandos. Born at Tallawang near Gulgong, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hansell, she spent the early years of her life in the Gulgong District where she married Leonard James Honeysett and in 1927 came to Kandos to live for the remainder of her life. In her young days Mrs. Honeysett was a keen tennis player and golfer, at that time Kandos had two golf courses. But her home and garden were where she loved to be. Roses were her favourite flowers. In her later years she derived much enjoyment from having her grandchildren around her. She always loved to help young people. Her philosophy was always to give, not receive. Mrs. Honeysett became disabled and totally confined to a wheel-chair some seven years ago. Although severely handicapped her one aim was always to be in her own home where she had lived for so many years. This desire became a reality through the support of various arrangements and organisations, Rylstone District Hospital Help Services and Doctors. Home Help, a service in the Kandos/Rylstone District consisting of dedicated women, brought Mrs. Honeysett through many years of triumphs and defeats, pleasure and pain. Times spent in hospital and out. Rylstone District Hospital staff also played the same role of caring and healing. Early in 1987 her condition deteriorated further and she was hospitalised in need of constant treatment. But, she still wanted to be at home. After meetings, discussions, frustrations, finally a plan was worked out which gave her hope, and generally did succeed. Five days in hospital and two days at home. This achievement again was only made possible through Rylstone District Hospital and the Home Help Services loving care and attention. During the last few days of Gladys’ 84 years she spoke words of gratitude, full of thankfulness for the way she had been looked after amid her suffering over many years. Mrs. Honeysett’s funeral took place on Saturday, December 19 at St. Laurence Church of England, Kandos followed by interment in the Rylstone Cemetery. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Adele and Clive Cafe of Ilford, June and George Briggs of Ilford and Winmalee, grandmother and great grandmother of their families, loved sister and sister-in-law of Hansell, Horace, and Dot of Mt. Pleasant. Mudgee Guardian, Friday 8 January 1988, p. 8. Obituary Gladys Violet Honeysett

Remembering Adele Margaret Cafe

Adele Margaret Cafe: 31.10.1926 - 4.10.2021

Adele Margaret Cafe, a well-known local identity of Bathurst and formerly of 'Waterview' Ilford passed away suddenly at Bathurst Hospital on 4th October, 2021.

Dearly beloved wife of Clive (dec). Loving mother and mother-in-law of Barry (dec) and Shirley, Peter and Margaret, Greg and Lyn, Jeff and Kathy, Suzanne and Greg, Mark and Sharon. Cherished grandmother to all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Adele (Dell) was born at Tallawang, Gulgong in 1926. She was the first daughter of Leonard and Gladys Honeysett and her younger sister, June was born 3 years later. Adele would often share her fond memories of growing up in Kandos, in a time when cars were rare, times were tough and family and friends were everything.

After schooling in Kandos, Adele worked in a retail store and like all young ladies of that time, the Annual Rylstone Debutante Ball held much excitement. It was on one such night that Adele's heart was swept away on the dance floor by a young Ilford farmer - Clive Ernest Cafe.

From then on she eagerly awaited the 'Waterview' produce delivery truck, hoping Clive would be on board. Love blossomed and after building their first home on 'Waterview' in 1947, they became husband and wife.

In 1948, Clive and Adele began their beautiful family with the arrival of Barry followed by Peter, Greg, Jeff, Suzanne and Mark. Being a wife and mother was a career Adele excelled at. Raising a large family on the land was a challenge but she learnt to be resourceful and resilient. They worked hard on the property to provide for their large family and to build a place where generations to come could enjoy such a wonderful lifestyle. A long time dream was fulfilled in 1991 when they built another new home on the Crudine Road at Ilford.

Clive and Adele were tireless members of the Ilford Community and will also be fondly remembered by the people of surrounding districts of Kandos, Rylstone, Mudgee and more recently Bathurst.

Clive's sudden death in 1998, after 51 years of marriage, rocked Adele and her family's world - she lost the love of her life. Although her heart was broken, her fierce love of Clive and the farm they had built together saw her stay on at 'Waterview' for seven years to continue their dreams.

In 2005 she made the decision to sell the family farm and moved to Bathurst - a move that although brought her happiness, created a new grieving for the farm and Clive. It took time to make her new house feel like her home but Adele was kept busy with family outings, celebrations, road trips and holidays interstate.

She endured more heartbreak when her first-born, Barry passed away suddenly in 2017 (aged 68) - a loss that never left her. With the love and support of her family and the wonderful homecare assistance she was able to continue living in her own home. She cherished the visits from all her extended family and friends.

She will always be remembered for her nurturing nature, kind-heartedness and for her fabulous home-cooking but more so for being a genuine loving and caring person who valued each and every one she met. She will be forever missed.

The family of Adele are extremely thankful for all the sympathy messages and condolences from far and wide to help them through this sad time. Also, the care, support and friendship in recent years from the staff of homecare (Australian Unity - Bathurst Branch) is sincerely appreciated.

Not only was Adele the most wonderful mother but a beautiful human being.
